Iraqi Soccer

My Newz 'n Ideas.

On Monday, July 19, 2004, the new Iraq soccer team played extremely well, according to my source. While they did lose 0-1, it was at the end of the game. The other team received a free shot. The new manager of the team let 15 of the older players go, while including some Olympic team players were hired. Was this a good move? Let's give them time before we make any judgements. How would you play at anything with the foreknowledge that no matter what you did, you would probably be tortured when you returned home? I am very proud of the Iraqi team, and I will be following them. It must be a liberating feeling to have the knowledge that when you get back home, you are not going to be tortured for losing. No matter what, you are winners in my eyes!

Link. This is not the original link, because that one went south. (It's gone.) This one is later on in that season when they made the Olympics!)
