A traveling exhibit honoring National Guardsmen who were formers and signers of the Constitution was unveiled by NGAUS at the National Guard Memorial in 1987. It was entitled “Guardians of the Constitution.” Maj. Gen. Bruce Jacobs, NGAUS assistant executive director, said the exhibit, which was sponsored by the Historical Society of the Militia and National Guard, now the National Guard Educational Foundation, was designed to highlight the 18 men with militia service who signed the Constitution. It was these men who ensured the militia clause was written as specifically as it was to detail the dual role of the militia then and the National Guard today.
May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can.
