KS Governors Military Council Visits Washington.
On Wednesday NGAUS briefed the Kansas Governor’s Military Council on the association’s role, the status of the FY09 defense bills and our outlook for the future. Much of the discussion dealt with new mission questions for the ANG and ongoing readiness concerns for the ARNG. Like other states, Kansas is right in the middle of these issues, having lost capabilities in-state due to BRAC and seeking ways to increase training opportunities for the ARNG with available facilities such as the Smoky Hill Range.
