Over at Blackfive, Maj. Pain has a post that should be read. Crescent City (California) Triplicate, specifically Adam Madison, received from Afghanistan a very moving letter written by Capt. Bruno de Solenni. Here is a portion of it.
Capt. Bruno was expected home for Christmas, but he will not be able to make it this year, nor any other year. September 20, 2008, Capt. Bruno de Solenni was killed in action by an IED in a far away place named Afghanistan fighting for our freedom and theirs.
What better sacrifice is there than lay down one's life for another? God bless the de Solenni family and all those who loved Bruno. May you find Peace and Strength through these difficult day, months, years. May God bless you, too, Capt. Bruno de Solenni. Thank you for your sacrifice. May your all of your troubles be gone and all your joys be complete in Heaven.
May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

First off, when I first joined the National Guard, back in 1996, I had no idea that I would be here today. I do remember making the decision on Christmas Day when I was about 20 years old and felt like I was going nowhere with my life and needed to take a new direction. As my father and mother had stated earlier, I was always fascinated with history and the military, and was amazed at some of the hardships my grandfather endured in both WWI and WWII.Trust me, I left enough of the letter out so you should go read it, but I did try to give you a sense of who Capt. Bruno de Solenni is and was.
...
Eventually, a few years after joining, I did decided to go back to college at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Ore., where there was a GOLD (Guard Officer Leadership Development) program that allowed me to earn a federal commission as an Army officer while I continued to work toward my degree (which the National Guard also paid for).
In a sense, I was doing exactly what the National Guard said I could do if I joined … Finally, on May 11, 2001, I received my commission as a young, immature, 2nd lieutenant full of piss and vinegar still not knowing exactly what I was getting into.
When Sept. 11 happened, it was then that I realized that things were going to be very different for me and the rest of this country. One month later our battalion received the alert order that we would mobilize the following year to fill in on the current MFO (Multi National Force and Observers) mission in Sinai, Egypt. After returning from Egypt, I was home for eight months before volunteering again to go to Iraq for OIF II. It was there I truly (became) an infantry officer and learned a lot about myself and people in general.
...
Something that still upsets me is the fact that they exploited some of the crimes soldiers committed over there as a reflective view to the rest of the world of what our armies stood for. I am not saying that we didn't make mistakes, we did make them and we have painfully corrected them.
...
Our true problems here are definitely reflective of the Pakistani border and the lack of troops covering it, which has been an issue for years and is being exploited by the Taliban as they train freely in Pakistan, unopposed by anyone.
In my opinion, Afghanistan does need a troop surge of American soldiers as well, otherwise we will only be able to sustain combat operations with minimal effect of containing Taliban insurgents. As I speak about this, these are only my views and opinions based on my experiences.
...
The good days over here are when we are truly sticking it to the Taliban in a firefight that is in our favor and you just drop ped 130 105mm rounds on their position. Or when a ... hot F-15 pilot flies over your head strafing the Taliban with his Vulcan cannons.
The (bad) days are whe n you are covering up your your sergeant major from being exposed to the dust-out of a Chinook helicopter that is landing to medivac him out. At the same time he cries because he doesn't want to leave his team as he lies there half paralyzed with shrapnel in him, while fluids are coming out of his eyes and ears signifying severe brain trauma, (meaning we can't give him morphine).
...
The bad days are when you put your buddy in a body bag and you don't even recognize him because his limbs are missing and there holes in him everywhere. The miracles are when his last words are, "tell my wife and kids I love them," before he dies in his best friend's arms after struggling for several agonizing minutes to get the words out because there is a fist-size hole in his head.
And last20but not least, the best days are when an Afghan comes up to you thanking you for everything that you have done to help them and for making their (home) a better place now that the Taliban are gone.
If anything, this is probably the biggest reason why I proudly enjoy being over here. I can't explain it to anyone and there is no description of what it feels like, but it was the same feeling I got when I was in Iraq as well. And I am sure it's the same feeling that generations of American soldiers before me have gotten as they fought and sacrificed their lives for the freedoms that we enjoy today.
Perhaps the biggest thing that has made being over here much more bearable, is the amount of public support that we have received from people. Getting a care package or a letter of support when you are out in the middle of nowhere from a complete stranger, thanking you, does make the day seem a little better.
I would especially like to thank my Aunt J an Martin, and The local Troop Support organization who have provided care packages to soldiers serving overseas and have volunteered endless hours of their time and energy making our lives easier. The British soldiers (who don't get anything) are extremely grateful as well.
...
Once again, I cannot thank everyone enough for their support and all that they have done …
Sincerely,
Capt. Bruno de Solenni [Read the whole article, please.]

Founders' Daily Quote: 30 Sept 08
"[W]hereas, to preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them; nor does it follow from this, that all promiscuously must go into actual service on every occasion. The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle; and when we see many men disposed to practice upon it, whenever they can prevail, no wonder true republicans are for carefully guarding against it."
--Federal Farmer (Antifederalist Letter, No.18, 25 January 1778); Reference: The Complete Anti-Federalist, Storing, ed., vol. 2 (342) The Founders Constitution.
Could someone please explain to me what 'promiscuously' meant back in the day? Also, is this an argument against the Pentagon (so-called military complex)? Thanks.
May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

About That 'Emergency Economic Bill'
There are many things I can say about this gargantuan bill to bail out everyone except those of us who pay taxes, buy and sell stocks, use banks, and use other products, but I may save that for another time and place.
As it stands right now, the emergency economic bill has been defeated 228-205, and the Republicans are being called 'Unpatriotic' by Congresswoman Nancy Palosi. Ma'am, if you had not poisined the waters before the vote with your partisan rhetoric while demanding bi-partisan support, maybe you would have received a better outcome (to my dismay).
There is an article in the New York Times describing some of what has transpired, but you have to go to the fifth paragraph from the end of the article to discover why this proposal tanked.
And just how did this come to be? Congress. Congress is responsible for where we are due to the Community Reinvestment Act. Just what is this? Congress decided back in 1979 that banks were not giving loans to certain areas or locations. It just so happens that these areas are where blacks and poor people lived.
It was a good idea back then, because there was discrimination. No doubt about it. Then Clinton came to town and decided he wanted to do more. So Congress, in 1993, mandated that these banks and loaning institutions had to offer more loans to more poor people than they were already doing. This led to the no down payment, no background check, no check on whether or not people were able to afford to pay back the loans they were given, and on and on.
When we had the housing bubble, people who could not afford a house did not save the correct amount of money (like I am doing), so they walked away from their rented homes. After all, wouldn't you consider it a rental when you had no investment in the house in which you lived? Especially if you were an illegal alien?
President Bush and Sen. John McCain have been warning that this would happen if there was no reform, but Chairman Barney Frank and Chris Dodd said that was racist and unnecessary. Unnecessary? THEY KNEW! They were the overseers.
When they get rid of the CRA, which was NOT in the bill (they wanted to EXPAND it!), then maybe the American people would be more understanding. Until you change your ways, Democrats, Republics, Independents, Socialists alike, we stand firmly behind those members that said, "NO DEAL!"
That is my opinion, and I know I do not stand alone. Both sides of the House said no. You cannot blame this on one party or the other. Those who voted yes, I'll be taking down names...when you come around asking me for my money!
PS. I would also like you to know that there are NO criminal provisions in this bill. Everyone who stole (cooked the books to get more money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, quasi private/government owned) gets to walk away scott free. There were many Clinton administration employees who made millions for themselves. Could this be why they are not worried about corruption?
Johnson and Raines are now working on the Obama campaign, although he may deny this FACT. Raines had a hand in the destruction of Fannie Mae. So did Johnson. I'm just not sure which financial institution he was responsible for. What if these men becomes Treasury Secretary and Economic Advisor?
Again, if you hear anything close to Republicans holding this up or it being their fault, the Democrats are in the majority. They could pass anything they wish, which they usually do. You may not know this, however, because the bills they passed were not bills of any import. Go figure.
Hat tip: Blackfive.
May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

The administration accepted limits on executive pay and tougher oversight; Democrats sacrificed a push to allow bankruptcy judges to rewrite mortgages. But Republicans fell short in their effort to require that the federal government insure, rather than buy, the bad debt. [Read the whole thing, if you want. lol.]The insurance is the main issue here. We would NOT be taking these bad loans with tax dollars. Instead, these failed banks, failed financial institutions, and others would have to insure whatever help they received. They would be responsible for restoring to the government this loan with interest. This way, they would NOT be given free cash to continue the practices which brought this about in the first place.
And just how did this come to be? Congress. Congress is responsible for where we are due to the Community Reinvestment Act. Just what is this? "Our own Country's Honor, all call upon us for a vigorous and manly exertion, and if we now shamefully fail, we shall become infamous to the whole world. Let us therefore rely upon the goodness of the Cause, and the aid of the supreme Being, in whose hands Victory is, to animate and encourage us to great and noble Actions - The Eyes of all our Countrymen are now upon us, and we shall have their blessings, and praises, if happily we are the instruments of saving them from the Tyranny mediated against them. How Did Obama Get My Email Address?
Before I go into my rant about my privacy being invaded by the Obama team hacking into my e-mail, I'd like to share with you an e-mail Let me see if I can decipher this in a proper way so these (people?) may see the error of their ways.
First of all. The same old failed Bush (that's PRESIDENT to you!) policies? Let me introduce you to the Community Reinvestment Act. In 2003, the New York Times reports that PRESIDENT Bush tried to reform this to deal with the massive housing industry that CONGRESS was supposed to be overseeing, but oh no! Couldn't do that, could we. That was considered racist. I always considered money to be green. Who knew?
President Bush' economic policies moved us all out of a recession he inherited from Clinton, then we had a terrorist attack on our own land, and then we had Enron and the Accounting Firms fall prey to collapse. BTW, don't cry fire unless something is burning. This is NOT an economic crises. It is an illegal alien crises.
That's right. No money down? No stake in the houses they bought with money they didn't have. It was just like renting. So when they leave, maybe to go back to wherever they came from, we have to pay for their decision while saving money the correct way so we can buy a house? NOT OUT OF MY MONEY!
Also, might I remind you what President JFK said? He said, "Ask NOT what your country can do for YOU, but what can you do for your country." Does that sound like he was a big government dude? No, it does not. I guess he wouldn't recognize his party if he were to come back today, and I know he would not get elected by the Democrats. Isn't it a shame how far Left you guys have moved the party?
About your fantasy that Obama came off looking as if he had command of the foreign policies issues, I don't know what you were watching. Were you just waiting for him to say that we'd get out of Iraq? Did you read a script? Because it did NOT happen!
Now for my rant. How the heck did you hack my e-mail? Who gave you permission to use it? As long as you keep sending me your information as to where you are going to be next, I will publish it. Not the one about Denver, I threw it out. I'm just letting you know in advance, because I do not appreciate first-speech offenders having access to ANYTHING of mine. LOSE IT.
May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

“This was a clear victory for Barack Obama on John McCain’s home turf.John McCain's home turf? Do they not know Mississippi is on the other side of the Mississippi River to where John McCain's "HOME TURF" is located? Hmm. Interesting. They could, however, be referring to the electoral college home turf, where she would correct. It's a possibility.
Senator McCain offered nothing but more of the same failed Bush policies, and Barack Obama made a forceful case for change in our economy and our foreign policy.I really wish she had not said this. I was not going to write anything about the debate, because I thought it was boring, but now I have to. Thanks a lot.

While Senator McCain wants to keep giving huge tax cuts to corporations and said nothing about the challenges Americans are facing in their daily lives, Barack Obama will be a fierce advocate for tax cuts for the middle class, affordable health care, and a new energy economy that creates millions of jobs. This is the one that got me in the gut. How dare you! Obama has voted YES on every TAX HIKE that was introduced. Tell me, how does that cut taxes? The debate was about foreign policies. That concerns everyone, including the middle class. Tell me, when is the last time you were hired by a poor person who had no business?
Also, might I remind you what President JFK said? He said, "Ask NOT what your country can do for YOU, but what can you do for your country." Does that sound like he was a big government dude? Isn't it a shame how far Left you guys have moved the party?
While foreign policy was supposed to be John McCain’s top issue, Barack Obama commanded that part of the debate with a clear call to responsibly end a misguided war in Iraq so that we can finish the fight against al Qaeda in Afghanistan. You really need an education. bin Laden himself stated that the center place of the war IS Iraq. If you will not believe us, will you believe him?
About your fantasy that Obama came off looking as if he had command of the foreign policies issues, I don't know what you were watching. Were you just waiting for him to say that we'd get out of Iraq? Did you read a script? Because it did NOT happen!
John McCain needed a game-changer tonight, and by any measure he didn’t get it,” said Obama-Biden campaign manager David Plouffe.A 'game' changer? You actually believe this is a game? That is sick. I believe you may have used a word you did not mean. I'm willing to believe that. After all, you guys ARE just 'playing' politics while Sen. McCain is deadly serious about protecting this country...for everyone. Not just for black people, not just for Hispanic people, not just for white people, not just for women, but for all American. Period.

Let Them Eat...Nothing
While this so-called economic 'crises' carries on and on and on, people are waking up to the facts of not only how this happened, but why, who, when, etc. It does not look good for the lot of them politicians.
McCain and Bush are two of the few who saw this coming, and they tried to stop it. It was the Democrats who took hundreds of thousands of dollars from these groups such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and Countrywide that stood in the way and said, "NO! You cannot investigate, you cannot reform, you cannot do anything to stop this economic disaster! We want more money than we're worth!"

I say to you, Dodd and Frank, "You may eat...NOTHING" Give back your paychecks!
Oh, btw, Barry Obama is the second highest paid from these groups, yet he has only been in the Senate for less than two years (2006?). So why would they give him so much money? Could it be that he is so entangled with ACORN? A group that these companies gives $1,000,000 per year. Why?
This is a Leftist group used for 'Get Out The Vote'. What does that have to do with housing, and why is the Congress trying to make sure that ACORN receives 20% of all profits from the sale of these bad debts, when this same group has been indicted in 15 states for voter fraud and found guilty in some of them?
Boy, talk about corruption!

Sen. McClintock 7, Charlie Brown 0
Senator Tom McClintock (Ca-R) is running for Congress against a man by the name of Charlie Brown. Yes, that's right. His mother must not have known about the 'funnies' at the time of naming this Leftist 'person', but he has lived to his name. On the other hand, Sen. McClintock is the Conservative we have been searching for to send to Congress to not only stop the bleeding, but he will bring the cure.
I've 'known' Sen. McClintock for over 10 years, and he is a straight shooter, intelligent, a fiscally conservative, pro-immigration/anti-illegal aliens, normal guy who really cares about US, we the people. He ran against Arnold during the recall, and all the radio talk shows talked people out of voting for him by saying no Conservative could possibly win in this state. Oh? Well, you're right. If they don't run, they can't win!
Now we have a worse economy than ever before. This was all done against the warnings by Sen. McClintock. You should hear what he has to say about energy, the mess in Congress about this bailout, and other issues. Oh, wait a minute! You can. I tried to download it, but blogger is trying to work out the wrinkles right now. I can, however, provide the link for this off-the-cuff debate. Tom was on the radio when Charlie called in. How sweet can it get? ;)
Sen. McClintock vs Charlie Brown (mp3). I report, you decide. If you think Tom won this debate, won't you please help us with a donation of any size? I would surely appreciate it! Thank you, and have a blessed weekend.
PS. For those who do not play/watch football, McClintock's 7 represents a touchdown score with the kick after the touchdown!
May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

There is a PAC that I belong to, and I want to bring to you this newest video we have put on the net. It is entitle, "Sarah Palin Better Than Barack Obama". It describes the difference in experience between the Republican Vice Presidential candidate and the Democrat Presidential candidate. It is by Our Country Deserves Better. We certainly do.
Here is yesterday's press release:

Here is yesterday's press release:
(SACRAMENTO - September 25, 2008) – The Our Country Deserves Better Committee (website: www.OurCountryDeservesBetter.com) – a federal PAC organized to defeat the Obama/Biden ticket – applauds Senator John McCain's decision to make his priority the economic needs of this country and focus on the crisis that has hit the financial industry. As a U.S. Senator, he has decided to put the job he was elected to do ahead of his political aspirations.I have provided the video here for your convenience.
However, since we are not elected officials, the Our Country Deserves Better committee will continue to campaign for the McCain/Palin ticket, and against the Obama/Biden ticket, and to that end we are releasing today this new web-ad: "Sarah Palin Better Than Barack Obama." The ad contrasts Palin's executive experience with Obama's lack thereof, and notes that Obama's perceived strength – his gift for gab – isn't all that it's cracked up to be.
Watch this web-ad here.
May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

Bush praises Petraeus, denounces Yemen attack
by John J. Kruzel
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON (Sept. 17, 2008) – President Bush Wednesday praised Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, the outgoing commander in Iraq who oversaw a dramatic reduction in violence there, and thanked him for agreeing to lead U.S. Central Command. The president also denounced an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa, Yemen, that killed an unspecified number of security personnel.
After meeting with the general at the White House, Bush credited Petraeus with helping to plan and implement a 33,000-troop surge that started in January 2007 and has been cited as a key factor in Iraq's improved security. "General David Petraeus was asked to do a very difficult job, and he did it with distinction and honor," Bush said. "He implemented the surge, along with a lot of other brave people. And the United States and the world is better off because of it."
Bush also said the United States is fortunate to have great men and women who volunteer to serve in a time of danger. "I have been incredibly impressed by the sacrifice of our troops who have been put in harm's way, and I've been incredibly impressed by the level of leadership for those troops," he said.
Petraeus served as the top U.S. commander in Iraq as violence dropped to recent historic lows. "It's great to be home, sir, and it was a great privilege to serve there with our young men and women," he told the president. The general is slated to take the reins as the commander of U.S. Central Command, which is responsible for a large swath of land stretching across the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa, and includes the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the contentious tribal areas of Pakistan.
Petreaus relinquished command of Multinational Force Iraq to Army Gen. Raymond T. Odierno during a ceremony yesterday at Camp Victory in Baghdad. "When General Petraeus took charge 19 months ago, darkness had descended on this land," Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said at the change of command. "Merchants of chaos were gaining strength. Death was commonplace. Around the world, questions mounted about whether a new strategy – or any strategy, for that matter – could make a real difference.
"Slowly, but inexorably, the tide began to turn," Gates said. "Our enemies took a fearsome beating they will not soon forget. Reinforced and fortified by our own people, the soldiers of Iraq found new courage and confidence. And the people of Iraq, resilient and emboldened, rose up to take back their country."
In Washington, Bush said today's violence in Sanaa is a reminder of the nature of extremist enemies. "One objective of these extremists as they kill is to try to cause the United States to lose our nerve and to withdraw from regions of the world,” he said. “And our message is that we want to help governments survive the extremists."
The president expressed his condolences for the families of those killed in the attack, which reportedly began with a car bombing at the embassy's gate, followed by a second explosion. "I want to thank our diplomats who stand in harm's way," Bush said. "I thank our military who stands in harm's way."

In speaking to reporters President Bush honored and congratulated General Petraeus for his outstanding command leadership in Iraq, and thanked him for agreeing to be the new commander of CENTCOM.

Odierno takes command in Iraq
by Jim Garamone
American Forces Press Service
CAMP VICTORY, Iraq (Sept. 16, 2008) — Army Gen. Raymond T. Odierno assumed command of Multi-National Force - Iraq from Army Gen. David H. Petraeus during a ceremony at al Faw Palace Tuesday. The change of command occurs after incredible progress in the country, said Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates, who traveled to Baghdad to participate in the ceremony. "When General Petraeus took charge 19 months ago, darkness had descended on this land," the secretary said. "Merchants of chaos were gaining strength. Death was commonplace. Around the world, questions mounted about whether a new strategy – or any strategy, for that matter – could make a real difference."
Navy Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, noted that a national intelligence estimate in January 2007 doubted whether Iraq could reconcile over 18 months. "Here we are, 18 months later, and Iraq is a vastly different place," Mullen said during the ceremony. "Attacks are at their lowest point in four years, 11 of 18 provinces have been turned over – including the once written off Anbar province – to Iraqi security forces, who are increasingly capable and taking more of a lead in operations."
The Iraqi government is providing for its people, the legislature is passing laws and the courts are enforcing justice, the chairman said. "In more places and on more faces we are seeing hope; we see progress," the admiral said.
Mullen said he looks forward to working with Petraeus as the general takes over the reins of U.S. Central Command next month. Petraeus put all the credit for the progress in Iraq at the feet of "the men and women of the coalition and with the many courageous diplomats and Iraqis with whom we have served." Petraeus thanked the Iraqi civilian and military leaders for their leadership. "You have risked everything to help your country make the most of the opportunity that our forces and yours have fought so hard to provide," he said.
The Iraqi people also have made the strategy work, standing with the new Iraq against extremism, Petraeus said. "You've endured tragic losses and countless hardships, but you've begun the process of repairing the fabric of a society ripped apart by the horrific sectarian violence of 2006 and into 2007," he said. "There will always be a place in my heart for the 'Land of the Two Rivers' and the people of Iraq."
Petraeus noted that when he took command he told coalition service members that the situation in Iraq was "hard, but not hopeless." The coalition and Iraqi partners stemmed the tide of violence and helped Iraq step back from civil war, Petraeus said. "Al-Qaida in Iraq, though still lethal and dangerous, is on the run and reduced in capability," the general said, "and militia activity – while still a threat as well – has been reduced dramatically."
Coalition troops adopted the counterinsurgency strategy wholeheartedly, and they played unconventional roles to bring about change in the land, Petraeus said. "You have, in short, been builders as well as guardians, statesmen as well as warriors," he said.
Odierno, who is beginning his third tour in Iraq, served under Petraeus as commander of Multi-National Corps - Iraq. Gates said the pair formed "an incredible team" in putting the troop surge and the new counterinsurgency strategy to work, and that Odierno "knows that we are at a pivotal moment where progress remains fragile and caution should be the order of the day."
"And as we proceed further into the endgame here," Gates continued, "I am sure he will make tough, but necessary, decisions to protect our national interest."
Petraeus will take command of U.S. Central Command in late October.

Commandos lend helping hand to Kandahar villagers
by Sgt. Michael J. Nyeste
CJTF-101
BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (Sept. 13, 2008) – Commandos of the 205th Commando Kandak are the tip of the spear for the Afghan National Army on the mountainous battlefields of Afghanistan. The Commando’s leadership isn’t limited to defeating insurgents in battle. They’re also lending a hand to villagers in need of a little help. The Commandos, with the help of Coalition forces, visited the village of Mandi Sar in the Kandahar District, Kandahar province, Sept. 8, to distribute humanitarian aid, religious items and toys for children. “We went in to help the people and help their quality of life,” said Capt. Mohammed Ahasn, 2nd Company, 205th Afghan National Army Corps commando. “We wanted to help on as many levels as possible.”
Before entering the village, the Commandos and Coalition forces set up a security perimeter to prevent any insurgents from disrupting the humanitarian assistance mission, said a Special Forces team commander with Combined Joint Special Operations Forces- Afghanistan.
Once security had been established, their initial entry into the village was greeted with apprehension and fear from the children. Slowly, curiosity took over and children began to pour out of the compounds to interact with Commandos. The Commandos developed an instant connection with the children by showing them their equipment. “One of the Commandos told them ‘If you want to have this equipment and wear this uniform, you need to go to school and when you grow up, serve your country like us and you can have all of this,” Ahasn said.
“The Commandos were received well by the people,” said the team commander. “The people could see the unity with the different tribes and ethnicities wearing the same uniform. They left a good impression.”
While the Commandos interacted with kids, Commando leadership gathered village elders and adult males to discuss issues within the village and to listen to two speeches given by the Kandak’s unit Mullah. “My respectful Afghans, the Taliban want to create distance between us,” the Mullah said during a speech. “They are trying to ambush from villages and civilian areas. As a result of this action, there are a lot of civilians getting killed and homes destroyed. Our National Army fought, and is still fighting, against these elements to protect our civilians.”
After the speech concluded, villagers gathered around the supply trucks to receive aid and supplies. Korans were handed out to the village’s spiritual leaders by the kandak Mullahan and prayer rugs were distributed to the adults. The prayer rugs were received especially well by villagers because of the current Ramadan holiday.
Once the adults had received their spiritual goods, it was time for the kids to receive their educational supplies and other treats. Posters and school supplies were handed out along with soccer and volley balls. An air pump was even on site to inflate the sports balls. “Those kids grabbed whatever they possibly could,” said a Special Forces team sergeant with CJSOTF-A. “It’s not everyday people roll into a village and hand out free stuff.”
Many of the children said “Tashakur” upon receiving their gifts from Commandos and many sported big, broad smiles while holding their newest possessions. “The mission was a success,” Asahn said. “We didn’t go for a fight. We went to help. The goal of the mission was peace. We left them with a good impression. Everything we said though, we have to keep our word. People will support us when we keep that word. They expect us to back up words with actions.”
“The Commandos made it clear to the villagers that they have the Afghan people’s best interest at heart when they reached out to help them today,” said Army Lt. Col. Christian Karsner, Task Force- 71 commander. “They’ll continue to serve their countrymen, whether it’s providing safety and security through battle with insurgents or handing out aid, Afghan Commandos will be there to protect and serve.”

Gates visits Afghanistan
by Staff Sgt. Adora Medina
3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division
BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (Sept. 18, 2008) – Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates met with Konar’s Provincial Governor, Sayed Fazullah Wahidi, to discuss ongoing and future plans for the Konar province, during a visit to Afghanistan Wednesday.
The Konar province encompasses 14 districts and shares a 200 kilometer border with Pakistan. Navy Cmdr. Daniel Dwyer, the Konar PRT commander, pointed out that the majority of kinetic activity the province experiences, is mainly due to its’ proximity to the Pakistan border. Dwyer and Wahidi, explained their approach of economic counterinsurgency to Secretary Gates. “We feel it’s more important to give jobs to the local fighting age male to prevent them from picking up a rifle and fighting against us,” Dwyer said. “We’ve been very successful with that right now.”
The execution of projects such as the Konar construction center, a three-month course that teaches carpentry, plumbing and construction, has enabled the people to maintain long-term jobs and put these skills to work within their respective communities. Prior to the execution of this project, the primary labor originated from Pakistan.
Another major topic of discussion was the production of roads and bridges and the essential role it plays in the economic structure of Afghanistan. “With $83 million, we’re primarily focusing on roads and bridges,” Dwyer explained. “We’re building that core infrastructure for Konar so their surplus crops can find ways to market.” The roads provide easier access for merchant travel through the mountainous terrain of Afghanistan and have cut the improvised explosive device threat significantly in those areas. “Where the road has come, we’ve gotten some economic progress,” Col. John Spiszer, Task Force Duke, commander, said. “We’re able to bring the government to the people and we’re starting to see a difference.”
Bridges have also contributed to economic growth by providing a route to Afghanistan for the many secluded villages cut off by a river along the Pakistan border. Wahidi emphasized the importance of these entryways explaining how medical care, crops and agriculture were all being lost to Pakistan, and how the education of nearly 80 percent of the children in the Konar province was acquired in the bordering country. However, the simple construction of bridges changed all of that, giving the people the support and easy access to their capital.
“With the support of the coalition, our people are successful, we are very much thankful of them,” Wahidi said. Wahidi explained how coalition forces are working with his province and that the people in his province are happy with the work coalition forces have put into the development of Afghanistan.

Do you remember Rev. Manning? He is the man who blasted Obama and his Mother. Personally, I do not like it when someone talks about anyone's Mother, but this is not that. You have to check this out!
Here is the direct link. Um, what do you think?
Uh oh! Looks like someone(s) got under his skin. They shouldn't ought to have done that! Check it out.
Here is the direct link. You can also find it here, in case they try to have him censored.
I'm telling you right now, you media types. Don't mess with this man. He WILL call you out. Then what will you do and/or say? Oh yes, there are enough of us out here to make sure you answer him.
We are sick and tired of you trying to protect one party while trying to destroy the other. YOU KNOW WHICH ONE I MEAN.
He's just asking for fairness, in his unique way. That is the same we all want. Except those tin hat people...but we won't talk about them. They might hear us! LOL.
May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

The Global War: Something To Consider

When we think of the global war, we think of Afghanistan and Iraq. Some refer to each country as different wars, some refer to them as different theatres of the same war. It all depends on your perception.
I have been watching the news about the Georgian occupation by the Soviets disappear and waiting for the smoke to blow over the car bombings in Yemen and Pakistan to understand their relevance and connection. To my surprise, it goes further than I had suspected.
We have put somewhat of a dent into FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia), a terrorist group who has been at war with the Colombian government for over 40 years, only to find through the documents obtained in the computers and other sources made available by the Columbian intelligence community and their successful raids of this group has a far more reaching network of which they obtain arms and monies, sell drugs, etc. from some state-sponsors (Venezuela and Nicaragua) and some non-state networks such as P-IRA of Ireland and ETA of Spain.
Here is the link to the third NEFA Foundation report written by Douglas Farah.
Sidebar: Douglas has been on top of this part of the world (and Africa) for a long period of time. He is a member of the Counter-Terrorism Blog, and he has his own site. Hat tip: CounterTerrorismBlog.
You may be thinking, "What does the ETA or the IRA have to do with al-Qaida? For that matter, what does Venezuela or Nicaragua have to do with this?" This is a good question. For a moment, I would like to let it stay a question while we explore more 'entities'.
Kenneth Conboy brings information to the table about Indonesia. On the same day of the bombings in Pakistan, "Indonesian cleric Abu Bakar Ba’asyir formally inaugurated a new hard-line organization in Bekasi, West Java, on 19 September. The new organization is called Jamaah Anshorud Tauhid (JAT), which roughly translates as “Savior Community.” The paramilitary Islamic Defender's Front sent several busloads of members from its chapters in Jakarta, Solo, and Indramayuto attend this inaugural ceremony."
This could mean more trouble from Indonesia. If this new JAT is anything like the old Indonesian Mujahidin which he led, it will be an anti-American group. This is one more country to add to the enemy list.
There are two articles written about this incident that I would like to share with you. "Islamabad Bombing I: Brute Force Tactics", by Aaron Mannes, and "Jihadi Hellish message to Pakistan", by Walid Phares.
Aaron's article describes skill of the killers and their tactical acuity, while Walid discusses the far reaching message that is being sent by these bombings. Actually, both men cover this in their own way. They both write at CounterTerrorismBlog, but trust me. I've seen some very diverse opinions. It is very interesting over there to be sure. lol.
Also, Aaron notes the bombings in Yemen and Pakistan were within one week of each of other and trying to kill people in our embassies. Have you heard any outrage about these animals attacking America's Sovereignty? Not by any 'respectable' Muslims, nor from any 'American' newspapers. This is troubling on the face of it, but it also leads one to believe these entities agree with the bombers. That's correct. I said it, and I meant it.
There are many more articles I could bring to the table, but I believe this is sufficient. Now I would like to try to tie it all together. (There are many terrorists and jihadis in Africa as well, but that's too many articles.)
al-Qaida is not one entity. It is one of many different freaks who want to murder people for their pleasure, and they use political religion to hide behind. It is the same with the IRA. FARC is training Hizbullah and vice versa. North Koreais was having its nuclear weapons developed in Syria, Iran had a deal with North Korea for weapons they no longer have, and North Korea needs the money from the deal they made with Iran. No weapons, no deal. THAT IS WHY they are starting to reinstate their work on their weapons they never stopped working on, nor did they give them up like they were supposed to.
DEAR GEORGE, Told ya so.
From Ireland to South America to Africa (Sudan, Nigeria, Chad, Somalia, etc) to the Middle East to Europe to Asia to Russia, there are bodies of terrorists/jihadis who want nothing better than to rid the world of us. What does one need to become an ally? A common enemy, a common goal, and the means. All of the above countries and terror groups have a common enemy, the USA and our allies. They have a common goal, to rule the world. They are obtaining the means.
May I ask you a question? What do we have? Democraps? Repukians? People who would rather put politics above all else, including America? Now you tell me, who has a better chance of succeeding? You're dang right I'm scared. Because I know enough. Not even too much! Just enough to know that there is an attack coming, and we are not prepared for it. Twenty-five people died in a train accident, and the first responders were US, the civilians. The police, ambulances, firefighters, etc., had a hard time getting there. Huh?
People live there. How do they get home if it's that hard? I recommend you get yourself ready...it's only a matter of time. The enemey is emboldened, and the government is playing these stupid political games, putting the USA in jeopardy by looking weak. That's right. We look weak because these idiots.
GIVE ME SARAH! She'll know what to do. [THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION, AND IT MAY NOT BE THE VIEW OF THIS BLOG.]
PS. If I did not answer your question, please leave a comment and I will try to do my best to do so. Thank you.

There are fears that the rhetoric of Ba'asyir, as well as other conservative clerics, will go more shrill if and when the three convicted Bali bombers are executed (which is likely to take place after the Idul Fitri holiday in early October). This is, of course, another Islamic group. So what does this mean? This means that there is a growing number of Islamic groups, and none of their members are stepping up to the plate to denounce their violence. Where is the outrage over the Marriott Hotel bombing? I'm sure there were several Muslims in there. Where is the gnashing of teeth? *silence* *still silent* *still waiting* *don't care anymore*

NFL Stats-Week 3
These are the statistics as to where each team stands at this moment in time. We have just finished week three in this season, except for tonights game when the New York Jets will play the San Diego Chargers at San Diego. These standings will change weekly, so check with the NFL.com standings category=conferences site for more information. Remember, the two conferences are the National Football Conference and the American Football Conference.
To see how division is faring, just go to the 'standings' button on top of the screen and wait a minute. You will be offered a choice of 'Division', 'Conference' or 'League'. Then choose the one you would like.
The stats that I am providing here are very limited. This much more information over at the NFL site. This is just the win/loss/tie stats. (I don't know how to make tables, so it looks very odd if I put all of them here.) Thank you for coming by and making me feel I'm actually doing something special. ;)

(I don't know how to make tables, so it looks very odd if I put all of them here.) Thank you for coming by and making me feel I'm actually doing something special. ;)

Vets For Freedom Report
It has been over a month since our Vets have returned home, and they have some true reporting to share with us. They went back to Iraq to seek the truth. They remember what it was like when they left in 2006, and they can tell if there is any REAL change for the better there. You should read what they have to say. The truth is always better than the fiction we are served by people who've never stepped on the streets of Iraq.
They have a website, Vets For Freedom.org, you should check everyday, because they are still reporting facts and even some feelings and opinions. They are also requesting that we support Senate Resolution 636. I urge you, if you truly support the Troops, to at least listen to them. Get their side of this issue. After all, it is to them we owe a debt of gratitude we will never be able to repay.
Here are just a few of their reports:
Pete Hegseth: Up and Over the Palm Tree.
David Bellavia: Diyala Surge.
Kate Norley: Back to Iraq Journal Entry #4.
Daniel Bell: Back to Iraq Journal Entry #6.
Erik Swabb: Back to Iraq Journal Entry #3.
Shawn Bryan: Dispatch from Kuwait.
Ben Hayden: Back to Iraq Journal Entry #3.
Whether or not you supported this war, they had no choice. It was their job, and they stood up for us. Will you now stand up for them?
May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.
