Founders' Daily Quote(s): 7/12-16/10

Monday, July 12, 2010.
"What is it that affectionate parents require of their Children; for all their care, anxiety, and toil on their accounts? Only that they would be wise and virtuous, Benevolent and kind." --Abigail Adams, letter to John Quincy Adams, 1783

Tue. 7/13.
"It is the duty of parents to maintain their children decently, and according to their circumstances; to protect them according to the dictates of prudence; and to educate them according to the suggestions of a judicious and zealous regard for their usefulness, their respectability and happiness." --James Wilson, Lectures on Law, 1791

Gosh, no mention of government intervention? Hmm...

Wed. 7/14.
"As long as Property exists, it will accumulate in Individuals and Families. As long as Marriage exists, Knowledge, Property and Influence will accumulate in Families." --John Adams, letter to Thomas Jefferson, 1814

So marriage, not the government, is the sole influence over children if you want Knowledge, Property and Influence to accumulate in each family? Yes. I agree.

Thu. 7/15.
"[T]he importance of piety and religion; of industry and frugality; of prudence, economy, regularity and an even government; all ... are essential to the well-being of a family." --Samuel Adams, letter to Thomas Wells, 1780

While government is mentioned here, it refers to an EVEN government. Unfortunately, this we do not have.

Fri. 7/16.
"As parents, we can have no joy, knowing that this government is not sufficiently lasting to ensure any thing which we may bequeath to posterity: And by a plain method of argument, as we are running the next generation into debt, we ought to do the work of it, otherwise we use them meanly and pitifully. In order to discover the line of our duty rightly, we should take our children in our hand, and fix our station a few years farther into life; that eminence will present a prospect, which a few present fears and prejudices conceal from our sight." --Thomas Paine, Common Sense, 1776

SCOTUS To Hear Doe #1 v Reed

Do you remember when many states voted to keep the status quo on marriage? Well, Washington State had some trouble makers up there, and they took it took it to court to get the names, addresses, and other personal information of the people who signed the petition to get it put on the ballot.

The court upheld it Sept, the 9th district rejected that opinion October 15th and gave it the go ahead, and 5 days later, October 20th, the SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) put a stay of action on it until it could be heard at its appeal.

Below is the press release sent to me by one of the lawyers of the James Madison Center for Free Speech.

Supreme Court Reply Brief to Protect Petition Signer Privacy Filed

Yesterday, Protect Marriage Washington filed its reply brief in the United States Supreme Court case of Doe #1 v. Reed. Protect Marriage Washington is asking the Court to decide whether the Washington Secretary of State may release the names, addresses, and other personal information of over 138,000 individuals who signed a referendum petition that sought to protect traditional marriage in Washington

Washington’s Secretary of State seeks to release this personal information to groups who have stated that they will place this personal information on the internet, and aid those who wish to harass and intimidate anyone who publicly supports traditional marriage. Efforts of these and similar groups have resulted in death threats, physical violence, and property damage directed at individuals supporting a traditional definition of marriage in Washington and across the country.

James Bopp, Jr., lead counsel for Protect Marriage Washington, stated that “The First Amendment allows individuals to engage in political speech without being forced to reveal their identities. When public disclosure laws like those in Washington force people to reveal themselves, individuals cannot speak without worrying about threats to themselves, their families, or their jobs. The State of Washington should not be allowed to encourage this violence and intimidation by requiring citizens engaging in political speech to identify themselves.”

On September 10, 2009, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington issued an order preventing the release of the names of the petition signers. On October 15, 2009, the Ninth Circuit issued a single page order allowing the release of the names. On October 20, 2009, the Supreme Court issued an emergency order preventing the release of the names until the appeal is decided..

The case is Doe #1 v. Reed. It will be argued before the United States Supreme Court on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Protect Marriage Washington’s briefing, along with the prior orders in the case, are available on the website of the James Madison Center for Free Speech, under the “Doe v. Reed (S. Ct. 2010)” heading.

James Bopp, Jr. has a national federal and state election law practice. He is General Counsel for the James Madison Center for Free Speech and former Co-Chairman of the Election Law Subcommittee of the Federalist Society.
If you want to contact him for yourself or you feel you might have a case, email me first. I will not jeapized our friendship and trust for anything. Not that I don't trust you, but I don't trust you. haha.

This reminds me of the reason why we have secret ballots today. It used to be there was a red box and a blue box (if I remember correctly) that people used to vote for the people they wanted. When people (Union Thugs) saw you put your ballot into the 'wrong' box, you actually risked your life. The same thing is happening here if the court decides to allow this atrocity. Who will sign a petition again?

Think about it. What if we were allowed to vote on whether or not there should be abortions? How about slavery? Don't you think those slave owners would be out there in numbers? I would to get rid of both of those horrible laws and/or practices. COME AFTER ME. But be careful. You don't know where I keep my Bible and guns...Have a great week. :)

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again. Digg! Digg!

"Every man who loves peace, every man who loves his country, every man who loves liberty ought to have it ever before his eyes that he may cherish in his heart a due attachment to the Union of America and be able to set a due value on the means of preserving it." --James Madison, Federalist No. 41

Tue. 12/8.
"We are firmly convinced, and we act on that conviction, that with nations as with individuals our interests soundly calculated will ever be found inseparable from our moral duties, and history bears witness to the fact that a just nation is trusted on its word when recourse is had to armaments and wars to bridle others." --Thomas Jefferson, Second Inaugural Address, 1805

"And as to the Cares, they are chiefly what attend the bringing up of Children; and I would ask any Man who has experienced it, if they are not the most delightful Cares in the World; and if from that Particular alone, he does not find the Bliss of a double State much greater, instead of being less than he expected." --Benjamin Franklin, Reply to a Piece of Advice

Fri. 11/6.
"It is of great importance to set a resolution, not to be shaken, never to tell an untruth. There is no vice so mean, so pitiful, so contemptible; and he who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and a third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world's believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good disposition." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, 1785

"More permanent and genuine happiness is to be found in the sequestered walks of connubial life than in the giddy rounds of promiscuous pleasure." --George Washington, letter to the Marquis de la Rourie, 1786

Tue. 10/20.
"Every thing useful and beneficial to man, seems to be connected with obedience to the laws of his nature, the inclinations, the duties, and the happiness of individuals, resolve themselves into customs and habits, favourable, in the highest degree, to society. Words From The Mouths Of Babes

I was going through my files today to see which ones I could get rid of so my computer would run faster when I came upon this article which I had never published. It is a very moving essay by a US teenager and although it written in December 29, 2005, I think you will still enjoy it. If only there were more like him.
Dec. 29, 2005
Essay by U.S. Teen Who Went to Iraq.
Excepts from an essay written recently by Farris Hassan, 16, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who traveled to Iraq without telling his parents:

There is a struggle in Iraq between good and evil, between those striving for freedom and liberty and those striving for death and destruction. You are aware of the heinous acts of the terrorists: Women and children massacred, innocent aid workers decapitated, indiscriminate murder. You are also aware of the heroic aspirations of the Iraqi people: liberty, democracy, security, normality. Those terrorists are not human but pure evil. For their goals to be thwarted, decent individuals must answer justice's call for help ... So I will.

Life is not about money, fame, or power. Life is about combating the forces of evil in the world, promoting justice, helping the misfortunate, and improving the welfare of our fellow man. Progress requires that we commit ourselves to such goals. We are not here on Earth to hedonistically pleasure ourselves, but to serve each other and the creator. What deed is greater than sacrificing one's luxuries for the benefit of those less blessed? ...

I know I can't do much. I know I can't stop all the carnage and save the innocent. But I also know I can't just sit here ...

I feel guilty living in a big house, driving a nice car, and going to a great school. I feel guilty hanging out with friends in a cafe without the fear of a suicide bomber present. I feel guilty enjoying the multitude of blessings, which I did nothing to deserve, while people in Iraq, many of them much better then me, are in terrible anguish. This inexorable guilt I feel transforms into a boundless empathy for the distress of the misfortunate and into a compassionate love for my fellow man ...

Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless the one who gives them.

Going to Iraq will broaden my mind. We kids at Pine Crest (School) live such sheltered lives. I want to experience during my Christmas the same hardships ordinary Iraqis experience everyday, so that I may better empathize with their distress. I also want to immerse myself in their environment in order to better comprehend the social and political elements ...

I plan on doing humanitarian work with the Red Cross. I will give my mind, body, and spirit to helping Iraqis rebuild their lives. Hopefully I will get the chance to build houses, distribute food supplies, and bring a smile or two to some poor children.

I know going to Iraq will be incredibly risky. There are thousands of people there that desperately want my head. There are millions of people there that mildly prefer my demise merely because I am American. Nevertheless, I will go there to love and help my neighbor in distress, if that endangers my life, so be it ...

If I know what is needed and what is right, but do not act on my moral conscience, I would be a hypocrite. I must do what I say decent individuals should do. I want to live my days so that my nights are not full of regrets. Therefore, I must go.

American Indian Marine represents family, heritage in Corps

26 Jun 07
Sgt. Anthony Guas
2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (FWD).

AL ASAD, Iraq - It is estimated that more than 12,000 Native Americans served in the United States military in World War I. There are more than 190,000 Native American military veterans; as the years continue to compile, so do the numbers of Native Americans in the military.

One of those Native Americans is Lance Cpl. Molly Sixkiller, an EA-6B Prowler electrician for Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 1.

“I’m proud to be who I am, I’m proud to be a Sixkiller,” said the Phoenix, Ariz., native. “My mother is from Arizona and is all Navaho. My father is from Chicago, (Ill.) and is Pima, Papka and Cherokee, so I am all mixed up.”

Sixkiller began her journey with the Marine Corps when she enrolled in the delayed entry program Sept. 29, 2005.

“I wanted to be one of the first in my immediate family to join one of the services,” said Sixkiller. “I picked the Marine Corps because I had to join the best.”

Sometimes a decision like joining the military is not supported by family members, but that does not hold true for the Sixkillers.

“(My parents) are proud that I am in the Marine Corps and are very supportive,” said Sixkiller. “My little brother looks up to me and wants to join the Marine Corps as well. He should join very soon.”

Although she joined the Corps and is now many miles from her family, Sixkiller continues to participate in her family’s rich traditions.

“We do keep some traditions alive, it has dwindled down to very few things nowadays, but we have powwows,” explained Sixkiller. “They are basically get-togethers for family and friends that we know. We have our traditional moments, basically a big ceremony.”

Sixkiller’s pride in her heritage carries into everything that she does. Competing against the best in her squadron, Sixkiller proved to her command that she is an outstanding Marine by taking the VMAQ-1 Marine of the Quarter Board.

“It was a good feeling (to win), I get to go up on another board for meritorious corporal,” said Sixkiller. “I’m happy about getting the chance. There is a lot more responsibility and I’m ready to take it.”

For Sixkiller being an aircraft electrician is more than just a job, it is a career choice.

“I enjoy my job very much and plan on pursuing it as a career after,” said Sixkiller. “We do a lot of exterior and interior lighting and a lot of systems. Basically we deal with all the wires in the jet. I picked my job when I joined the Marine Corps, because I wanted to pursue this field.”

Sixkiller’s high level of motivation and dedication is something that is recognized by her peers and superiors throughout the squadron.

“She constantly displays excellent initiative,” said Staff Sgt. Shawn E. Tate, electronics shop staff noncommissioned officer-in-charge for VMAQ-1. “She is always the go-to person, if a plane lands she is out and on it. Any job that comes up, she is the first one on it.”

Not only is Sixkiller a hard-working Marine, she also interacts professionally and proficiently with her fellow Banshees.

She gets along with everyone very well, she is great at exchanging information,” said Tate, an Augusta, Ga., native. “She is like a sponge, learns everything really quick.”

Although her career is uncertain, Sixkiller is certain about plans for her immediate future.

“Right now it’s a little to soon to tell if I am staying in or not,” explained Sixkiller. “After (preparing for the boards) I plan to study more and get (more qualifications). I also plan to help the junior Marines, achieve some of the same goals.”

Although her name is uncommon and may draw more attention than Smith or Johnson, Sixkiller is proud of her heritage and willing to share her story with anyone.

“Sometimes I will be walking to chow or something and someone will walk by and look at my name twice, ‘Your name is Sixkiller? What’s your background?’ and I’ll tell them a little about myself,” explained Sixkiller. “I am proud, this is who I am.”

Soldiers Travel From Sudan To Citizenship

by Staff Sgt. Tim Meyer
25th Inf. Div.

COB SPEICHER, Iraq (March 13, 2009) – The two Soldiers, one a Christian from the south, the other a Muslim from the north, have nothing against each other, despite the past which tore their homeland of Sudan apart in more than 20 years of civil war.

Today, they are deployed together in Iraq with the U.S. Army, where they work with the same unit as interpreters. Despite Sudan’s violent past, the two men share a bright future. Both became naturalized U.S. citizens in a March 3 ceremony at Al Faw Palace in Baghdad.

“I love my job, and I love my new country,” said Army Spc. Marlesh Mbory, with 25th Infantry Division’s Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team. “I’m grateful to be American.”

Now married with two children, Mbory moved to the United States in 2003 and settled in Lincoln, Nebraska, where thousands of former southern Sudanese citizens call home. However, his path there was far from easy. At the age of 18, Mbory’s stepbrother and uncle were killed in the second Sudanese civil war. He fled from Sudan to the Congo where he lived for several months and then to the Central African Republic for five years before immigrating to the United States.

Mbory learned the French, Swahili, Arabic, Nigala, Sango and Moro languages in Africa. Upon arrival in the United States, Mbory’s 8-year-old daughter, Lidia, helped him learn English in Nebraska. He hesitated joining the Army because he didn’t want to leave Grace, his then-pregnant wife, alone at home. She persuaded him to go, and Munyo, their son, was born while Mbory was in initial entry training.

“I want to see the world peaceful in the future; that is my hope,” he said.

Mbory’s father, four brothers and two sisters are still in Sudan; he is thinking of returning to visit them one day. After this deployment, he plans to work as a recruiter in Lincoln, to tell other Sudanese there of the positive advantages of joining the Army.

Army Spc. Magdi Ahmed, assigned to the same unit, said he also has found a brighter future in the United States. “I moved to the U.S. for freedom, for better opportunities, for a better life,” he said. “Joining the Army gave me the opportunity to fix things that I saw with my eyes, but I couldn’t do anything about.”

Ahmed’s parents were from Sudan, but he was born in Saudi Arabia. After working at a railway station for nearly 20 years, Ahmed’s father was forcibly retired by the government and replaced by an employee who received less pay.

The family moved to Dongla, the capital of northern Sudan, where they lived for six years during the war. Although his parents were Sudanese, they were considered foreigners because they had lived in Saudi Arabia.

“I didn’t feel like an equal in Saudi Arabia or in Sudan,” Ahmed said. Even though he had Sudanese citizenship and was a resident there, he had to pay more for college, according to Ahmed, because he was born in Saudi Arabia, a rich country.

The college faculty intentionally gave him failing grades because he didn’t agree with the government, Ahmed said. In Sudan he suffered negative experiences — unfairness, discrimination and corruption — but views those experiences as positives now because they prepared him for moving to the United States.

“The U.S. was the only place you could go for justice. I couldn’t get justice from my own country. The struggle I felt in Saudi Arabia and in Sudan made me feel like the U.S. would be a better place to live,” Ahmed said.

Ahmed moved back to Saudi Arabia in 2005, and emigrated to the United States a year later. In Wisconsin, a friend of his uncle’s helped Ahmed start a new life. After a month, he had his own apartment and job.

Ahmed’s parents, five brothers and sister live in Saudi Arabia, and his other relatives still live in Sudan, where his uncle died during the war. Southern Sudan will have the chance to vote for full independence in 2011, and Mbory adds, “God is watching.”

9/11 Families Want Gitmo To Remain

I came upon this article (I forget how), and it is quite interesting. The way things have been reported around here, you'd have thought this was the opposite of what the majority of people in the USA wanted. My oh my, what a web it is when at first the press decides to deceive!

I'm not familiar this paper, so I have posted the article below. This way it won't disappear when you try to link to it. (I hate that. CNN does that ALL the time.)

Families of 9/11 victims want to keep Guantanamo open. (AFP) - 20 January 2009

GUANTANAMO BAY US NAVAL BASE - Parents of five 9/11 victims called Monday for the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay to remain open and for the military commissions to try the five men accused of perpetrating the attacks.

"We demand that this camp stay open and that the process continue," said Joe Holland, whose son was killed during the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, and the Pentagon in Washington.

"Right here, right now, this is a good process, they are getting a fair trial," Holland told reporters, referring to the military commissions established by the administration of President George W. Bush to try "war on terror" detainees held at the controversial facility.

"Guantanamo has been described as a national embarrassment. Mass murder in America is embarrassing," said Donald Arias, his voice trembling with rage.

"Mister Obama, it will be your job to take care of us."

President-elect Barack Obama, who takes office on Tuesday, will likely make good on his campaign promise and shutter Guantanamo as well as Bush's military commissions by issuing an executive order shortly after taking power.

Chosen by the Pentagon to witness the hearings, the five representatives of the 9/11 victims spoke after a day of pretrial hearings, where self-proclaimed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed appeared alongside four alleged co-conspirators.

"I believe the preponderance of 9/11 victims defend the death penalty," Arias said at the press conference. "This is not an issue for federal courts."

It could take several months to fully close down the detention camp, as US officials will have to transfer some of the 248 prisoners to other countries and then decide whether to try the remaining suspects in US courts.

Obama has acknowledged that closing the prison will take longer than many of his supporters had hoped.

"We waited eight years, we had nothing ... This is an ongoing process," Jim Riches said about the military commissions, whose fate now hangs in the balance.

Mandated by Congress in 2006, the military commissions were established by the Bush administration to try terror suspects under separate rules from regular civilian or military courts.

The controversial system allows convictions based on classified and hearsay evidence, and critics say it allows for verdicts based on testimony obtained through torture and abuse.

Of the 248 inmates still held at the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, only about 20 have been charged, including the five suspected 9/11 conspirators.

EMBARASSING??? So you pukes are worried about being embarassed? I recommend you crawl right back underneath the rock you slithered forth from. Your presence is neither needed nor desired here. You, dear sirs, are traitors to this country, and the next attack shall surely carry its blood on your hands. You do not even have the brain to comprehend this.

"Human rights! Human rights!", you decry. Tell me, please, where were you when those people were jumping off the Twin Towers because they did not want to burn alive? Where were their human rights? Black, yellow, red and white, it did not matter. Just the fact that you exist is enough for them to want you dead, but you know better, right? You, sir, are a fool of the worst order. May the Good Lord forgive us for whatever happens to our country in the future because of your stupity. Yes, Dear God, Protect us.

Left's Moral Relativism In War

This video is disturbing to most of us who do not believe in sending our children - under the age of 18 - to fight in any war. Sure, sometimes a 17 year old may sneak in, but these children have not yet started puberty. That is the first half of Uncle Jimbo's vidoe. The second half shows the successful rescue of a kidnapped boy who was held for $100,000 ransom. You tell me, who do you think are the good guys and who are the bad? I cannot even believe that is a relevant question!

Al Qaeda Summer Camp for Kids- Blackfive TV.

Uncle Jimbo also has an awesome collection of videos he put together over at Blackfive's. He starts off with Vets for Freedom- Kate Norley Back to Iraq, and there are eight videos in total. I especially like the 17 minute one. Well, I liked the one about the puppy too, especially when YankeeMom met her at the DC airport. Thank you to all our Patriot Guards, also!

Oh, I almost forgot. You won't understand my ire until you watch the video. I know many of you may, but I am now referring to those readers who just happened to come upon this article. The Left/Marxists amongst us have a tendency to believe these 'people' can be persuaded with 'talks'. They also claim they deserve the same rights as any other 'human being'.

That is why I emplore you to watch this 4:10 minute video. If you still believe these animals can be reasoned with, that they are not monsters, I have only one suggestion for you. YOU go talk to them. If per chance you end up in the way of a shell headed for the nosebridge of the monster you are 'reasoning' with, oh well. Too bad, so sad, and good riddance.

Our men and women in the Armed Forces are NOTHING like these monsters, and I demand an apology from every Senator and Congressperson and every idiot who ever made the claim that they are. There is a time and a place for everything. When our men and women are out there fighting for our very lives, then we are supposed to remain united. It is the LEFT who are dividing us, and they fooled you into voting them into office. Great job. NOT. We must stop this.

I did not vote for President-elect Obama but when he takes the oath, he will be my president, too. I will feel the same way. I will treat him with the respect due the office, if for no other reason than it is the office. I can say without fear of being wrong, I will treat him one helluva lot better than the opposition has EVER treated PRESIDENT George W. Bush. If you want to know the difference between a Conservative and a Communist Leftist, there is one for ya.

I say this because I am angry. I angry because we are in a global war which half of America refuses to acknowledge, and some of the half that does seems to be forgetting why we fighting in the first place. That puts my life at risk and that gives me the right speak up about it. Heck, just being an American gives me the right, but I am a Conservative. I don't like sticking my nose in where it does not belong. Unlike the LEFTIST MARXISTS amongst us...Have a nice day.

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

From Wilderness To Womanhood

This post is written by Karl's 18 year old daughter, and it is beautifully written. She is intelligent, articulate, and witty. Weren't we all at 18? *heh* Karl is very proud of his daughter, and I can see why. I have decided to use the end of her of post to share with you, but I recommend you go to Leaning Staight Up and read it from the beginning.

***************************

I have paid close attention to the reactions of Liberal Obama supporters when bloggers and such responded to the election with their own opinions. What I saw was a disgusting combination of oppression and childish insults hurled daringly at the poor person who didn’t support Obama. What I have seen is finger pointing, accusations of being nutty right-wings.
“You nutty right wingers can go gibber in the corner about stupid rumors like this; just get out of our way.” - Jftp (LSU Commentor)
What kind of American attitude is that? What happened to our country’s firm beliefs in escaping persecution, in allowing ourselves to believe in something different? What will these next four years do to us? Will we be further banned from expression our religion, our politics, our views, everything, for fear of ‘insulting’ someone or ‘offending’ someone? Will we be so forced to be open-minded that we are forced to quell any form of personality we had left?

I am a young woman, with a higher then normal intellect. I participate in musical activities, and am proficient in the viola and violin, as well as the piano when I put my mind to it. I play video games, and I openly admit to my World of Warcraft love. I am of a minority religion that I fear to speak of on a daily basis because of the way people have reacted in the past. I do not judge others by their skin or the way they speak. I love theatre and worked on the stage as an actress and as a technical worker. I sketch and draw, and I am currently working on a book series that I hope to someday have published. I have been working at my job for over a year, and already, I am being nominated for one of the national workers who have done beyond-outstanding in their and other work centers. I have two piercings in my ears, and love dressing up punkish and gothic for a good concert. I go to the mall and laugh and shop with my friends. I kiss my boyfriend and hold hands with him. I’m not shy of swearing. I accept other people’s religions, and at least one-third of my friends are gay, lesbian, or at least bisexual. I hold myself to a moral code that would make my grandparents proud. I’m patient with those I have to teach, and willingly offer to help those around me, whether at work, at home, or at play. I wear glasses, and I read paperbacks and hardbacks that are thicker then my forearm, especially David Eddings and Robert Jordan.

I am no different then any other person out there. In fact, I’m probably quite better then many people out there.

So then, readers of LSU…

Why do I feel so oppressed by whats to come?

Once more… I am an eighteen year old young woman who looks upon those around her, her peers and those who are older, and shakes her head in disgust… and sorrow at what consumes these people’s minds.

**************************

Well done, young lady. Welcome to adulthood. I know it doesn't appear to be all you may have expected right now, but it can be anything you make it. There is nothing that can stand in your way unless you allow it to do so. God bless your journey.

Ah, I almost forgot to explain the title. From Wilderness...We all remember High School, yes? Those awkward years, the hormone changes, the uncertainty, the new challenges, and everything that got us into trouble or at least tried? Ah, yes. The good old days! NOT! lol. Then at that magic age of 18 we are all of a sudden adults. Why was I not an adult yesterday again, the day before my birthday? I will never get an answer that is acceptable to me to that question, so I will just carry on from here. One more of those adult answers that a 17 year old will never understand...lol.

Everyone, have a nice day.

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

Founders' Daily Quote: 21 July 2008

"Harmony in the married state is the very first object to be aimed at."

--Thomas Jefferson (letter to Mary Jefferson Eppes, 7 January 1798)

It sort of makes me wonder, had they considered homosexuality and the possibility of the same sex wanting to marry one another? It would appear that they did, because there were laws on the books of EVERY state in the union against homosexual behaviour. How can they be against the behaviour, but not against the so-called farse of a marriage?

It has oft been said by most that marriage is the cornerstone of society. Are we to now accept that just anyone can 'marry' just anyone for any reason? Why not have 3 people marry? Why not 4? Where do draw the line, if we are able to draw a line at all?

OF COURSE THEY WERE AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY, as am I. You don't like it? Tough. I'm not here to wipe your rear-end. I'm here to speak the Truth and to speak my mind. That I shall do without fear of you or anyone else. God save this nation.

PS. I am also against adultry, stealing, coveting, murder, gossip, and lieing. That covers the 10 Commandments plus gossiping. Is it against the to gossip? No. Is it wrong to gossip? YES. So you see, I am an equal opportunist. ;)

God, please protect the Snow family from protesters

Tony Snow was the perfect picture of the husband and man that I would have loved to have met and married. Don't go getting stupid on me, I'm saying he was devoted to HIS WIFE AND FAMILY and his faith in God was very strong. An example that I wish more men would expound. That is what I meant, for Pete's sake! lol

Lord, he is with You now, and I know he has no more pain. There is one thing I pray for his family. That wicked family that calls themselves a 'church' is planning on protesting his funeral on July 17, 2008. They had some horrible remarks about his passing from this world into Heaven. I shall expose them here and now.
Christ Episcopal Church (Lepor Colony) 118 N. Washington St. Tony Snow (Press Secretary for 6 "B" George W. Bush) is dead, YES! He had a platform, he was given some small talent by his creator. He was an unfaithful steward, and is now residing in hell. Each opportunity he had to faithfully REport what the servants at WBC had to tell this country/world, Tony Snow besmerched and vilified the words of God and the people of God. Thereby being a party to the crime of passing laws to make the preaching of the gospel to this adulterous and sinful generation = criminal activity. That is a very bad monkey! This is what the Lord Jesus Christ said about hypocritical heretical "scribes": Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. Matthew 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows? houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Matthew 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Matthew 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men?s bones, and of all uncleanness. Matthew 23:29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, Luke 11:44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them. You see there is nothing worse than a scribe who has gone away from their primary duty to faithfully report the facts as they ARE! And how appropriate that this brute, vain beast of a brat was raised Catholic, but then determined like his forefathers that oops! he'd rather be a filthy Episcopalian, instead. God hates Tony Snow, and that is why he is now burning in hell.
I will not, however, provide the link. If you really want it, google them. So, these scum beneath the earth believe that just because Tony didn't agree with your protesting our brave men and women, you say he is in hell? Because he didn't listen to you? The words you use are, 'listen to God', so are you blaspheming? Are you declaring that YOU are God? I DON'T AGREE WITH YOU, YOU SON OF A WITCH! May you rot in hell all the rest of your natural and immortal life...unless you repent and come to your senses. Doubtful, but always possible with the Merciful God I know. You, sir, do not have a clue.

I just called the White House (202-456-1111) to let them know what is being planned. I also asked for some Secret Service agents to be there so they can arrest these creeps. Have a nice in the slammer.

DJIBOUTI (July3, 2008) – Members from Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa distributed shoes and toys to children June 28 at the Saint Francis of Notre Dame Orphanage. Various good Samaritans and church groups donated the items, which Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 74, based out of Gulfport, Miss., and volunteers from Djibouti Masonic Outreach distributed to more than 40 children.

Engineering Aid 2nd Class Susan Knox holds a child at Saint Francis Notre Dame Orphanage in Djibouti, June 26, while troops donated shoes and toys to local orphans.Construction Mechanic 2nd Class Ralph Manzie, assigned to NMCB 74 and a native of Bristol, Va., donated more than 50 pairs of flip-flops on behalf of his wife, Tessa, and their church, Gulf Coast Unitarian, in Gulfport, Miss. “It’s pretty amazing,” said Manzie, as he played with several toddlers in the playroom. “It makes me smile because I made them smile.”

Manzie, who has two children of his own, Jim, 7, and Joe, 3, said it made him happy to help the children here, but also makes him miss his own. “It’s sad when I leave my kids for deployment,” he said, as nuns and other volunteers put the children to bed for an afternoon nap. “Then I come here and there are all these children with no parents.”

Engineering Aid 2nd Class Susan Knox, assigned to NMCB 74 and a Fayetteville, Texas, native, donated 30 pairs of shoes on behave of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints. “They are so happy to see us, and they don’t even know why we are here,” she said. Knox said she was startled by the reaction by some of the children during the visit. She recounted the story of giving one little boy a toy frog. He was so excited and overwhelmed that it brought him to tears.

Djibouti Masonic Outreach, a volunteer based Masonic group made up of deployed military members and civilians organized the trip. “We are about helping people. We try lending a helping hand to not only this community, but the world,” said Utilitiesman 2nd Class Richardo Charles, an outreach member.

“I think it will make a big difference, even after we are long gone, as ambassadors to Djibouti,” said Desi Wade, the Djibouti Masonic Outreach president. He said with the success of this trip, he plans to organize more in the near future.

Sailors, Soldiers repair school

by Petty Officer 3rd Class John Hulle
CJTF-HOA.

DJIBOUTI (June 12, 2008) — U.S. Servicemembers here gathered an assortment of materials and construction skills to make repairs to the Balbalas primary school. Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 74, based out of Gulfport, Miss., and Soldiers from the 412th Civil Affairs Battalion, based out of Columbus, Ohio, replaced light fixtures, hinges and hasps on shutters, fixed doorframes and repaired a water pump and cistern during an ongoing project at the school that is expected to be completed in June. The soldiers and sailors are deployed to Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa. “I enjoy coming out and working on projects like this. I like to get out and help the community,” said Builder 2nd Class Kevin Bragwell, NMCB 74 crewmember. “Plus, every time we come out here, there’s something different to do.”

Construction Electrician 2nd Class Justin Johnson repairs a light fixture at the Balbala primary school in Djibouti on May 31.This was the first time Army Capt. Sikiru Kafaru, 412th CA BN team leader, worked side by side with Seabees. Kafaru said this was an “outstanding” experience. “For us it’s an exciting thing,” he said. “We appreciate the Seabees getting involved.” Without NMCB 74’s involvement, the 412th CA BN would have just donated the materials. Instead, by using the construction force’s building expertise, the crew is able to complete the many small projects and spend more time interacting with the community. “It’s a good thing,” said Bragwell. “We get good reactions, especially from the children. They are excited to see us.”

Housssin Abdi Ali, a fourth grade teacher at Balbalas, agrees. He said the Soldiers and Seabees having a presence at the school helps build the relationship between Djibouti and the U.S. Ali also said he hopes the improvements can help the school accommodate more than 2,000 students it already teaches. “If you are not educated, you are blind. That’s why this is so important,” he said.

Colonel: Coalition, Iraqi forces winning in Anbar

Department of Defense

WASHINGTON (April 14, 2008) – Increased security brought about by military success against insurgents in the western portion of Iraq’s Anbar province is enabling a drawdown of U.S. forces there as well as enhanced regional reconstruction efforts, a senior Marine commander told Pentagon reporters. “The insurgents, by and large, have been marginalized in western Anbar,” Marine Corps Col. Pat Malay, commander of Regimental Combat Team 5, told Pentagon reporters during a satellite-carried news conference from Camp Ripper, Iraq.

Malay’s area of operations comprises about 30,000 square miles, an area about the size of South Carolina. During a previous Iraq tour in Fallujah two years ago, Malay recalled, multitudes of foreign fighters were entering western Iraq from Syria. Today, there are very few foreign fighters in his area of operations, he observed. “Quite frankly, I think we’ve killed a lot of them, and I think that the enemy is having a more difficult time recruiting to the numbers that they have in the past,” Malay said. In addition, foreign fighters no longer are transiting across the Syrian border into Anbar province, the colonel said.

With insurgents “on the run” in western Anbar province, the resultant reduced violence has enabled a drawdown of U.S. forces in his sector, Malay said. Three of his command’s five battalions have rotated home over the past three months, he noted. Meanwhile, the numbers of Iraqi security forces in western Anbar continue to grow, Malay said, noting his area of operations now has 5,000 police, 1,000 highway patrolmen and 7,000 Iraqi soldiers.

Iraqi soldiers and police are increasingly taking the lead in security operations, Malay said. Recent Iraqi-led operations have achieved successes against insurgents in Hit, Haditha and Qaim, he pointed out. The drop in violence also has enabled a larger focus on reconstruction programs such as building needed schools and providing water and electricity needs for the local populace, the colonel added.

Amenah, a 2-year-old Iraqi girl from Haditha, was flown to the United States in February for successful surgery on her ailing heart. Haditha, located in formerly restive western Anbar province, today is experiencing reduced violence and widespread reconstruction. Photo by Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Shawn Coolman.Citing recent humanitarian assistance efforts in Anbar province, Malay pointed to the story of Amenah, a 2-year-old Iraqi girl from Haditha who was flown to the United States in February for surgery on her ailing heart. Surgeons at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., were able to correct Amenah’s congenital heart defect, Malay said. Today, Amenah is a healthy little girl, he noted, while the Haditha hospital is now receiving much-needed upgrades so it can attend to other sick children.

The American public should be very proud of U.S. servicemembers’ efforts in Anbar province, Malay said. “They’re the next great generation, and they are winning here,” Malay said of the Marines, sailors, airmen and soldiers serving in Anbar. “It’s mind-boggling; the changes that have taken place here.”

Baby left at doorstep finds new home

by Zach Mott
3rd BCT, 4th ID

BAGHDAD, Iraq (April 9, 2008) — Spotting irregularities is a tactic that is drilled into the minds of Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers throughout training and in practice while in Iraq. Soldiers recently watched as a car pulled up to an entry control point at Forward Operating Base Callahan in northern Baghdad. They continued to watch as a woman stepped out of the car holding a bag. Once the woman dropped the bag near the gate, internal alarms were ringing and a careful search was called for and conducted.

“Alex Callahan,” the nickname for a baby boy left in a plastic bag near Forward Operating Base Callahan, sleeps soundly at the Coalition base in northern Baghdad. The baby was thoroughly checked out by medics from 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, and given a clean bill of health. U.S. Army photo. That search yielded a newborn baby wrapped tightly in cloth. Soldiers raced to the bag, retrieved the child and brought him to the aid station to be examined. “We unwrapped it to make sure he was alive – and he wasn’t sick, he wasn’t dead, he wasn’t injured,” said Staff Sgt. Paul Briscoe, the aid station non-commissioned officer in charge at FOB Callahan. “He was a perfectly healthy baby. I’m guessing three to seven days old. He was in perfect health. There wasn’t a scratch on him.”

This unlikely sight brought images of the Las Vegas native’s two children to mind. “It was like my kids were newborns again,” said Briscoe, who serves with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad. After the medics were satisfied the baby, who by this time had drawn the nickname “Alex Callahan” after the Soldier who found him and the name of the base, was in no need of immediate medical attention, the focus shifted to what they would do with the child.

An interpreter working at the base volunteered to go to a nearby store to buy diapers and formula while another interpreter took care of Alex. Briscoe said the aid station became a hub of activity as word spread throughout the small base of the new arrival. “I’ve fed him twice, just holding him, watching him, making sure that he’s alright,” said Doreen Haddad, an interpreter with 1-68 AR, who helped care for Alex. “I’ve changed his diapers twice. I wanted to give him a bath, but I wasn’t able to.”

While a forward operating base isn’t the ideal location for a baby, Soldiers and those working at FOB Callahan ensured that Alex’s stay there was as comfortable as possible. The baby is to be adopted by the brother of a local national, who works at the base. The brother, and his wife, have been married five years and have been unable to have a baby of their own. The interpreters at FOB Callahan have taken a collection to donate to the family to help care for the baby.

Despite the thousands of miles that separates the Soldiers from their families in Colorado, one constant remains with this baby and those they left behind. “He’s sleeping and pooping, just like a regular baby,” Briscoe said.

Decision to Ban Homeschoolers is Vacated!

I have just learned from the Family Research Center that the 2nd District Court of Appeals has vacated the decision by the California Supremes to ban anyone and everyone who does not a California quality teachers certificate and/or belongs to one of the many unions we have out here, then your career as a teacher to your children was over! Good for you, 2nd Court of Appeals. However the fight is not yet over.

I have to wait an hour to reach the office, but the link they've provided is incorrect. Hey, things happen. It's just very good to know that the whole world hasn't gone looney!

The Court is still going to have another hearing about this issue, so please put on your prayer slippers. AND USE THEM! ;)

We must fight back for the sake of our children, our families, our communities, our states, and our sovereignty! Since when does the government own our children??? THEY MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT. They want to claim nutrality when it comes to religion? Okay, then explain to me why it's okay to have muslims praying in school, but Christian children are not even afforded the benefit of a moment of silence? Hmm?

Here is the link to the Family Research Center: FRC. Have a great day. I will try to get that link for us. ;)

Update: Here is the link to this news article.

Court of Appeal Grants Petition for Re-hearing.

On March 25, the California Court of Appeal granted a motion for rehearing in the In re Rachel L. case—the controversial decision which purported to ban all homeschooling in that state unless the parents held a teaching license qualifying them to teach in public schools.

The automatic effect of granting this motion is that the prior opinion is vacated and is no longer binding on any one, including the parties in the case.

The Court of Appeal has solicited a number of public school establishment organizations to submit amicus briefs including the California Superintendent of Public Instruction, California Department of Education, the Los Angeles Unified School District, and three California teacher unions. The court also granted permission to Sunland Christian School to file an amicus brief. The order also indicates that it will consider amicus applications from other groups.

Home School Legal Defense Association will seek permission to file such an amicus brief and will coordinate efforts with a number of organizations interesting in filing briefs to support the right of parents to homeschool their children in California.

There is also a Hat Tip to Michelle Malkin: Court to reconsider California home school ruling. She is always right on the cutting edge. I'd watch out if I were you! This is very good news indeed. ;)

Medics nurse starving child back to health

Bagram Media Center.

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (March 18, 2008) — Too weak to move out of the fetal position or even utter a noise, a malnourished 2-year-old girl, weighing only seven pounds, was nursed back to health by Afghan National Security and Coalition forces medics in Arghandab District, Zabul Province, recently.

“When she arrived she weighed 7.8 pounds,” said a Coalition soldier, at the scene. “She was so weak she could not move out of the fetal position and did not respond when we gave her a bath. Apparently, the child has never even attempted to speak either.”

She was brought to the attention of the ANSF during a humanitarian aid mission in Zabul Province during Feb. 25 and Coalition forces knew she would need to receive immediate care at a nearby Coalition medical facility to survive. Her father objected because he feared insurgent reprisal for accepting help from the Coalition forces. The District Chief eased his fears by explaining the consequences of inaction.

After deliberation, the father went with his daughter to the clinic for treatment, said the soldier. “The first two weeks of intensive care started this child on the road to recovery,” said a Coalition soldier.

During the initial stages of treatment, the medical team cared for the girl around the clock. To prevent future problems, the father was instructed on the proper care and feeding for a child of her age. By his own admission, the father had raised the infant exclusively on a diet of tea and bread. “She devoured every ounce of food we put in front of her,” the soldier said. “Her cheeks and face really filled out in a short time, and she finally uncurled out of the fetal position enough to move on her own.”

The girl weighed 12.6 pounds when Coalition medics released her March 12. She had gained almost five pounds in 12 days. “She still has a lot of recovering to do, but she is heading in the right direction,” a soldier said.
