Pending AQ Attack In Turkey?

Below you will find an e-mail from The Jamestown Foundation. WASHINGTON, DC — In the February 6, 2009, issue of Eurasia Daily Monitor, Jamestown Visiting Fellow Emrullah Uslu discusses a trend that is both troubling and as of yet undetected in Western media — the growing threat of an al-Qaeda attack in Turkey. From jewelry heists to post office robberies to car thefts, there has been a wave of crimes in Turkey thought to have been perpetrated by members of al-Qaeda. As Emrullah Uslu argues, these crimes may be intended to compensate for a lack of funding from the central al-Qaeda organization and "a possible sign of a major operation in the making." Since this article first appeared in EDM, there has already been a similar robbery of a post office in Ankara. Are these robberies a precursor to an al-Qaeda attack in Turkey? Al-Qaeda Robbers Target Jewelry Stores.

The recent crisis with Israel not only diverted international attention away from the looming danger of al-Qaeda attacks in Turkey but the growing sensitivity toward Israel may actually be motivating groups associated with al-Qaeda to attack Jewish targets in Turkey. In fact, because of the possibility of an al-Qaeda attack, Israel's El-Al airline recently terminated its flights to Antalya. Zaman reported that the CIA had notified Israeli and Turkish authorities that al-Qaeda operatives had entered Turkey to target Israeli tourists. According to the report, al-Qaeda may be seeking to attack airports in Istanbul, Izmir, or Antalya (Zaman, February 6).

It was said initially that El-Al had cancelled its Tel Aviv-Antalya flights because Turkey did not allow armed Israeli security forces on airplanes coming into Antalya and Israel insisted on having armed security personnel on board (IHA, February 4). Another Israeli airline, Sun D'Or, has also announced that it will cease its flights until March 1 for "commercial reasons" (CNNTurk, February 4). It seems that neither argument reflects the real reason why Israeli airlines have stopped flying to Antalya. The danger of an al-Qaeda attack on an Israeli target could perhaps be the best explanation behind the cancellation of these flights.

The Turkish National Police (TNP) has recently been conducting operations against al-Qaeda members. In December police arrested 38 al-Qaeda members, 22 of whom were jailed. That operation revealed that the organization was planning to hit the Israeli, U.S., and British consulates in Istanbul (Sabah, December 20, 2008). On January 29 four al-Qaeda members tried to rob a post office in the Sultanbeyli district of Istanbul, but undercover police officers who were following the suspects intervened, and a gunfight ensued. One al-Qaeda member was killed and another wounded. Two others escaped (Sabah, January 29). In following days the police arrested 11 suspected al-Qaeda members. After the arrest it was revealed that al-Qaeda militants were organizing an attack on a rabbi in Bursa (Milliyet, February 3).

Al-Qaeda has recently taken to robbing and stealing gold, money, and cars. A recent police action revealed that al-Qaeda members had stolen three cars and robbed a jewelry store and two trucks loaded with cables (Milliyet, February 3). It comes as no surprise that al-Qaeda members would steal cars or trucks for use in their attacks, but robbing jewelry stores and post offices is a new tactic in Turkey.

On July 21, 2008, a jewelry store was robbed by three people carrying Kalashnikovs; police later detected that the robbers may have been members of al-Qaeda (Sabah, December 20, 2008). On January 27 another jewelry store was robbed in Kocaeli Province by four masked men. The police think that those who attempted to rob the post office in Istanbul also might have been involved in the Kocaeli robbery (Hurriyet, January 29). On February 5 in Istanbul's Maltepe district another post office was robbed (Yeni Safak, February 5). Although it is still unknown whether al-Qaeda was involved, this robbery bares similarities to those committed by al-Qaeda.

The TNP has been closely monitoring the al-Qaeda network since the synagogue bombings in Istanbul in 2003 and have conducted a series of operations against al-Qaeda. The recent upsurge in jewelry store and post office robberies, however, is a new trend. Al-Qaeda spends thousands of dollars for each attack. The recent spate of robberies may indicate that the police have successfully isolated the individual al-Qaeda cells so that they cannot obtain cash from the central body or that the main organization has stopped financing local operations.

If al Qaeda cuts off funding for its local branches so that each group has to find its own means of financing for the attacks, then the recent series of robberies could be a possible sign of a major operation in the making. Although the TNP works hard and prevents most of the attacks in the planning stage, the recent upsurge in anti-Israel sentiment in Turkey may result in al-Qaeda members obtaining more informational assistance about potential Israeli targets from the local population.

UK vs Geert Wilders' 'Fitna'

Many of my readers are aware of my wrath toward cowards who quiver in the face of threats made to people who choose to retain their free speech in the face of Islamism arrogance. Geert Wilders is a hero in this department, the UK gov't is full of cowards.

Geert has made a documentary named, 'Fitna', which uses the parts of the Koran which the jihadis exploit for political manipulation to warn the west about what is vital to our survival. For this, he is being prosecuted by the Dutch government, thanks to the Muslims who've invaded their country and silenced the good Muslim population.

The UK invited Geert to speak at their showing of this documentay, but a couple of ministries (how ironic, stop using the name 'Ministry'. You are not ministers!) disinvited him because HE is considered a bigger threat to their peace than the jihadis!

So. What to do? I have the documentary for you to watch here. Let them come after me, too. I am not afraid. Ya see, we have this little thing called the 2nd Amendment in America, and I know how to use it to my benefit and protection. I consider a threat from any jihadi to my person and livelihood to be a reasonable enough threat to do my duty for my country. Don't be afraid. Tell me your name and address. Unless, of course, you are cowards like the rest of the jihadis and the UK government...

BTW, jihadis are those who give Muslims a bad name and make life harder for them. This in no way has anything to do with the good Muslims I know and the good Muslims I do not know. Let's just make this perfectly clear. After 9/11/01, my door and heart was open to any Muslim woman who felt they needed refuge. So don't even go down that road. Jihadis are the racists here, not the American people. It sure would be nice, however, if more American Muslims would stand up against the jihadis.

Check them out and decide for yourself if they are speaking out loudly enough for you. Frankly, I don't believe they are receiving the attention they deserve. FBI Cuts Ties With CAIR

There is some rather disturbing news breaking about the organization 'CAIR' (that is, if you haven't been following their attempts to put a stranglehold on our legal system and our Republic), and the FBI has determined to cut their ties with them. The national organization must explain some of their disturbing ties with the organization of Ham-ass and the Muslim Brotherhood - both terrorists groups as listed with our State Dept.

Who are the Muslim Brotherhood? These are the jihadis from which all terrorists stem. You will also find that Ham-ass is also tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. Ham-ass also has ties to CAIR.

This is the most important thing you need to know. They are setting up shop in America, and they want to destroy us from within. Oh, you've known this for a long time? Well, many of us have, but some people do not. It is to them I would like to share this evidence. You may use it also.

Here is what was found in the transcripts of the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) trial concerning the Muslim Brotherhood:

"In order for Islam and its Movement to become 'a part of the homeland' in which it lives, 'stable' in its land, 'rooted' in the spirits and minds of its people, 'enabled' in the lives of its society and has firmly established 'organizations' on which the Islamic structure is built and with which the testimony of civilization is achieved, the Movement must plan and struggle to obtain 'the keys' and the tools of this process in carry out this grand mission as a 'Civilization Jihadist' responsibility which lies on the shoulders of Muslims and - on top of them - the Muslim Brotherhood in this country..."

I want you to pay close attention to the term, 'Civilization Jihad'. Also note, they are in this country as I write this. This next quote is the meat of the issue (emphasis mine):

"The process of settlement is a 'Civilization-Jihadist Process' with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in elimiating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is elimated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions. Without this level of understanding, we are not up to this challenge and have not prepared ourselves for Jihad yet. It is a Muslim's destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny except for those who chose to slack. But, would the slackers and the Mujahedeen be equal."

"As for the role of the Ikhwan, it is the initiative, pioneering, leadership, raising the banner and pushing people in that direction. They are then to work to employ, direct and unify Muslims’ efforts and powers for this process. In order to do that, we must possess a mastery of the art of 'coalitions', the art of 'absorption' and the principles of 'cooperation'."

The FBI would still like to have a relationship with local Muslims, but they need to clear up things with the unindicted-coconspiritors to the HLF, CAIR. We must stop them. I see no way for them to ever come to any understanding about the overthrow of our government. I really do not.

SHUT UP, Muhammed!

Angel has this wonderful video I am going to share with you (hat tip, Woman Honor Thyself), and it hits us squarely in the face. Listen first, then we'll talk.

So do you still believe that we, as Americans, are immune from this? Oh, do not be so trusting of our government! That is your first mistake. NEVER trust any government, even our own. Yes, even though it is the best one around.

Are you aware that 3000+ mosques have been built here by Saudi Arabia since September 11, 2001? Yes, and they are teaching hatred of the United States gov't and Americans. Funny thing is, they are taking jobs in a gov't they are taught to hate. How safe do you feel about that?

Please forgive me. I guess it would help if you knew what I am so upset about, eh? The Netherlands gov't has charged Geert Wilders, a Dutch lawmaker who made a film linking the koran to violence (well, duh!), with the awful crime of offend muslims. Huh?

Since when did offending someone become a criminal offense? Since you allow your government to make laws against people who are nationals in the favor of people who moved to your country and demanded you follow THEIR laws or they will burn your country up and start murdering everyone.

Now would someone please explain to me how this works? You come to my country. You demand special treatment, treatment I don't even receive. Then you want me arrested for using my own GOD-given rights? THE STATE DOES NOT GIVE ME THESE RIGHTS, you idiots. God, Jesus Christ--NOT allah, does. We've fought you since our inception, and we shall fight you forever if you insist on continuing to make such demands. How dare you!

If you can't stand the heat, move back to your tyrannical country. Good riddance.

Since Israel has finally decided to fight back against the Arabs who've been lobbing rockets inside Israel everyday and kidnapping Israelis when the opportunity presents itself, NOW the world has a fit. One question. Where were you when the Arabs were assaulting them DISPROPORTIONATEY?

In the 2005, there were forcibly (against my advice) no more Jewish people living within the Gaza Strip. They left behind many greenhouses for the Arabs to grow food so they would not be starving. Do you know what they did? They went in and destroyed everything. These Arabs do NOT want peace. Have you already forgotten September 11, 2001?

Anyway, my point is this. You will not receive any news that is factual unless you watch these videos. Israel gave live footage to the press, and they never even bothered using it. What they did do was show you the jihadis footage. Amazing how so many people were injured, yet they only had one boy to show you! It reminds me of the guy who supposedly dead and kept falling of the burial cot. Yup, he kept getting back up on it. Amazing what those dead Arabs can do!

Just one more note. Israel, be kind. It is not kind to start and stop, start and stop a war. What is kind is to defeat your enemy with massive force and total defeat. This is a so-called government, right? They must surrender. Without a surrender, you will only be encouraging them to continue doing what they are doing.

Forget about public opinion. You can't eat it. You can't spend it. And sure as heck can't spend it. Do what is necessary, as we did in Germany and Japan. I am not ashamed of what we did, because we saved many more lives by killing so massively that the emporor of Japan surrendered totally and completely. They are now our allies. I prefer it this way, but it never would have happened unless WE won...so be disproportionate. Win. I shall be praying for you.

Hmm. It appears that I am too brutally honest when I describe our history. There is someone I know who shall remain nameless (because I don't have his/her permission to reprint this) that wrote me about this very topic in general. I'd like to use his/her words insteads.

Obama: Pay Attention To Peru

The Jamestown Foundation has written an eye opening article about Peru and the problems brewing there. If we act earlier enough, we may be able to help their government stomp out a terrorist group before it gains back the strength it used to have in the '80's and '90's. Here is an introduction:

Peru’s Sendero Luminoso: From Maoism to Narco-Terrorism.

One of the most brutal and destructive terrorist groups worldwide since its emergence in 1980—Peru’s “Shining Path” (Sendero Luminoso - SL) —continues to carry out attacks on Peruvian military, police, and civilian targets in 2008. Almost ten years after the group splintered during a “no-holds barred” offensive by Peruvian security forces, government officials and citizens alike express concern that a return to the past, when almost 70,000 Peruvians and others died, may be in the offing (see Terrorism Focus, September 11, 2007).

The article goes on to describe who the leaders are/were, where they are located, what they have done in the past and are doing in the present, and the threat they pose to Peru, its neighbors, and the United States.

He makes a very compelling case that while they are small, they should be wiped out. My words, not his. When we first learned about Osama bin Ladin, if only we had taken steps then to wipe out his group! This is what Peru and we are facing at this moment. We cannot take our eyes off the ball when it concerns any country. Especially countries who are our allies, or our enemies for that matter.

In closing he states this:

Conclusion

It is the Peruvian peasantry that finds itself caught in the middle of the conflict between guerrillas and responding police and military units (ipsnews.net, November 6). There are concerns in the Peruvian government that many of these people may begin evacuating the Huallaga region to avoid a resurgence of the brutal warfare that characterized the area in the 1980s and 1990s, when more than 70,000 Peruvians were killed. President Alberto Fujimori’s “dirty war” effectively destroyed the SL, leaving only several hundred fighters left in the bush. Despite a widespread impression the movement was finished, the Shining Path’s transformation into a group providing security for narcotics traffickers while pursuing its goal of a Maoist state seems to have refueled the conflict.

What should concern the Government of Peru, its neighbors, and the United States most is that Colombia’s FARC traveled a very similar path to its present position of being a state within a state because it was not opposed in its nascent phase. Like the FARC in Colombia, Sendero Luminoso has and will continue to have the money to fund its revolutionary aims in Peru through involvement in narcotics production.

Left's Moral Relativism In War

This video is disturbing to most of us who do not believe in sending our children - under the age of 18 - to fight in any war. Sure, sometimes a 17 year old may sneak in, but these children have not yet started puberty. That is the first half of Uncle Jimbo's vidoe. The second half shows the successful rescue of a kidnapped boy who was held for $100,000 ransom. You tell me, who do you think are the good guys and who are the bad? I cannot even believe that is a relevant question!

I especially like the 17 minute one. Well, I liked the one about the puppy too, especially when YankeeMom met her at the DC airport. Thank you to all our Patriot Guards, also!

Oh, I almost forgot. You won't understand my ire until you watch the video. I know many of you may, but I am now referring to those readers who just happened to come upon this article. The Left/Marxists amongst us have a tendency to believe these 'people' can be persuaded with 'talks'. They also claim they deserve the same rights as any other 'human being'.

That is why I emplore you to watch this 4:10 minute video. If you still believe these animals can be reasoned with, that they are not monsters, I have only one suggestion for you. YOU go talk to them. If per chance you end up in the way of a shell headed for the nosebridge of the monster you are 'reasoning' with, oh well. Too bad, so sad, and good riddance.

Our men and women in the Armed Forces are NOTHING like these monsters, and I demand an apology from every Senator and Congressperson and every idiot who ever made the claim that they are. There is a time and a place for everything. When our men and women are out there fighting for our very lives, then we are supposed to remain united. It is the LEFT who are dividing us, and they fooled you into voting them into office. Great job. NOT. We must stop this.

I did not vote for President-elect Obama but when he takes the oath, he will be my president, too. I will feel the same way. I will treat him with the respect due the office, if for no other reason than it is the office. I can say without fear of being wrong, I will treat him one helluva lot better than the opposition has EVER treated PRESIDENT George W. Bush. If you want to know the difference between a Conservative and a Communist Leftist, there is one for ya.

I say this because I am angry. I angry because we are in a global war which half of America refuses to acknowledge, and some of the half that does seems to be forgetting why we fighting in the first place. That puts my life at risk and that gives me the right speak up about it. Heck, just being an American gives me the right, but I am a Conservative. I don't like sticking my nose in where it does not belong. Unlike the LEFTIST MARXISTS amongst us...Have a nice day.

IAEA To West: Drop Dead

International Atomic Energy Agency's chief scumbag, El Baradei, has taken it upon himself to endanger the whole world by seeking to allow Syria to obtain a nuclear power plant that will not 'violate' or need their supervision. Just like the ones in Iran and North Korea. Doesn't that make you feel better? The article is in Ha'aretz under the title, "IAEA chief ElBaradei: Let Syria have nuclear aid".

Here is a brief quote:

An IAEA report last week said a Syrian building demolished in an Israeli air raid last year bore similarities to a nuclear reactor and uranium particles, possibly remnants of pre-enriched nuclear fuel, had been found in the area.

But it stressed the findings were preliminary and more on-site checks, and Syrian documentation to prove its denials of covert nuclear activity, were needed to draw conclusions. [Continue reading.]

If this was the other way around, if Syria had attacked Israel, the un would not even bat an eye. They wouldn't even acknowledge that anything unlawful occurred. This is one way to determine who our enemies are. The old double cross.

I suppose all of my writing to representatives, senators, the UN, etc, made no impact when it came to getting this man fired. I find no satisfaction in being correct that he is a muslim spy for the Middle East. This of course means the terrible things we do not know about will most certainly fall upon me as well.

I do not think as some on the naive side of this issue. I do not just ask, 'What business is it of MINE?' No. I care about you as well, even if you don't. This is getting to be overwhelmingly frustrating. And Obama wants to give the UN $50 BILLION more dollars? God, please protect us.

ACLU Crying About Osama’s Drivers Conviction

Just a few minutes ago, Special Contributor wrote The ACLU are sure to be crying about human rights violations any minute now. Yup!

After a trial filled with overwhelming constitutional and procedural flaws, a jury of military officers today found Salim Hamdan guilty of providing material support for terrorism JIHAD. The American Civil Liberties Union has been at Guantánamo Bay observing the Hamdan proceedings, which lacked the fundamental legal safeguards found in traditional U.S. courts or military courts governed by the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Followed by bloviation and terrorist love from Anthony Romero, the Center For Constitutional Law is also pitching a hissy fit. And in a large surprise to me, Firedoglake is weepy about this conviction, but don't say that the Left supports terrorism JIHADISTS. That would be mean.

Ed Morrissey sums it up:

Hamdan's case has been a test in several ways. He challenged his detention, forcing Congress and the Bush administration to re-engineer the tribunals twice. As a driver, he had less obvious culpability for the deaths of thousands of American civilians than Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. In the end, the verdict recognized the differences. They put aside emotion and acquitted him of being a member of the AQ conspiracy in these attacks, but recognized his role in supporting the organization.

Essentially, they recognized Hamdan as a smaller part of the terrorist group, but that doesn't absolve him from responsibility for his support of AQ. The verdict demonstrates that the Gitmo tribunals are not kangaroo courts, and that justice can be found in this process.

Justice was served, despite how much the ACLU cries about it. The fact that these terrorist defending lawyers think foreign terrorists deserve constitutional rights is absolutely abhorent. That they convinced SCOTUS to grant them [US Constitutional rights] is even scarier.

Lawhawk is on the same page:

Considering that terrorists caught on the battlefield are not a class of individuals protected under the Geneva Conventions and would have been summarily executed in prior conflicts, the lengths to which the US has gone to provide rights to these terrorists - up to and including habeas [corpus] access to US courts - undermines the arguments by the defense. Hamdan has had more bites of the apple of justice than most defendants could ever hope to achieve in traditional criminal justice cases.

Cry me a river about the tactics that include sleep deprivation and solitary confinement. Hamdan admits that he was Osama's driver, but claims that he was a mere lackey and didn't partake in Osama's jihad against the US.

[I hope you rot in hell, you soulless and godless bastard. I hate you. Just be glad it wasn't a civilian citizen of the USA who got their hands on you first. You think you've been tortured? You ain't seen nothin' yet!]

Blogburst: ACLU to Sue Over FISA Act Passage

Today we have a rather interesting post from Stop the ACLU. The FISA bill was FINALLY passed, and the ACLU is having a fit...as usual. Here is Jay's post on it for today's blogburst:

The meltdown continues!

Today, in a blatant assault upon civil liberties and the right to privacy, the Senate passed an unconstitutional domestic spying bill that violates the Fourth Amendment and eliminates any meaningful role for judicial oversight of government surveillance. The FISA Amendments Act of 2008 was approved by a vote of 69 to 28 and is expected to be signed into law by President Bush shortly. This bill essentially legalizes the president's unlawful warrantless wiretapping program revealed in December 2005 by the New York Times.

I'm glad they included the reminder of the New York Times' act of treason, revealing specifics on a secret program and informing our enemies of the tools we use against them. Of course the ACLU think[s] this was a courageous act of "whistle blowing" and in their twisted world, an act of patriotism. In the real world, it was an a cowardly act of treason.

Once again, Congress blinked and succumbed to the president's fear-mongering. With today's vote, the government has been given a green light to expand its power to spy on Americans and run roughshod over the Constitution," said Anthony D. Romero, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union. "This legislation will give the government unfettered and unchecked access to innocent Americans' international communications without a warrant. This is not only unconstitutional, but absolutely un-American."

[Emphasis mine.] Of course the ACLU have made up all these accusations out of thin air, and can't win any lawsuit they have launched against this program. They can't provide any evidence to prove their claims and have been smacked down numerous times because they have absolutely no standing. Of course they have repeated their own lies so many times they believe them to be true now. [This is what Karl Marx taught.] That is what happens to the paranoid. The program is not designed to spy on innocent Americans, and the government would have no interest in those conversations anyway. The program is designed to listen to international phone calls that flagged known terrorists and their financers. The program is designed to protect innocent Americans.

The bill further trivializes court review by authorizing the government to continue a surveillance program even after the government's general spying procedures are found insufficient or unconstitutional by the FISC. The government has the authority to wiretap through the entire appeals process, and then keep and use whatever information was gathered in the meantime. A provision touted as a major "concession" by proponents of the bill calls for investigations by the inspectors general of four agencies overseeing spying activities. But members of Congress who do not sit on the Judiciary or Intelligence committees will not be guaranteed access to the agencies' reports.

Any information obtained on terrorists should be used, and when compromising…one must make concessions.

The bill essentially grants absolute retroactive immunity to telecommunication companies that facilitated the president's warrantless wiretapping program over the last seven years by ensuring the dismissal of court cases pending against those companies. The test for the companies' right to immunity is not whether the government certifications they acted on were actually legal – only whether they were issued. Because it is public knowledge that certifications were issued, all of the pending cases will be summarily dismissed. This means Americans may never learn the truth about what the companies and the government did with our private communications.

Blah, blah, blah. These telecom companies cooperated with the government and provided protection and prevention of terrorist attacks on many innocent Americans. What they did was their patriotic duty, and they should be seen as heroes, not criminals. Of course the ACLU are disappointed they can't sue these rich companies to line their own pockets.

Still…the ACLU remain steadfast:

In advance of the president's signature, the ACLU announced its plan to challenge the new law in court.

"This fight is not over. We intend to challenge this bill as soon as President Bush signs it into law," said Jameel Jaffer, Director of the ACLU National Security Project. "The bill allows the warrantless and dragnet surveillance of Americans' international telephone and email communications. It plainly violates the Fourth Amendment."

Can't wait to watch you guys get shot down again? Anyone know how we can sue the ACLU for continually thwarting the government's efforts to protect us?

Jerusalem and the Jewish people are so intertwined that telling the history of one is telling the history of the other. It has been a while since we have looked at the Fairness Doctrine, but now we have a reason to do so. The National Center for Public Policy Research and Project 21 will discuss this. There is also concern within the TSA by some concerned patriots about the same conditions being in place that existed prior to 9/11/2001. Let us not forget Columbia, eh? There is more news about what is happening than when I first started googling.

New "Local Programming" Regulations Under FCC Consideration Could Lead to Broadcast Restrictions

>Washington, D.C. - Concerned that proposed Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations regarding "local programming content and diversity" could lead to a new "Fairness Doctrine," black broadcasting veterans affiliated with Project 21 have submitted comments to the FCC opposing new restrictions on currently-accepted political and social content.

"We've seen an explosion in broadcast content since the FCC set aside the political restrictions of the Fairness Doctrine over 20 years ago," said Project 21 Fellow Deneen Borelli. "To bring about new restrictions now would hurt businesses, political discourse and the diversity these proposed regulations purport to want to foster. All it will do is hurt free expression and free speech."

The FCC released a report in late January on the topic of "broadcast localism" that ostensibly seeks "to ensure that broadcasters are appropriately addressing the needs of their local communities." Some of the report's proposals include "increase[ing] local content and diversity in programming," "establish[ment of] permanent advisory boards... to consult periodically on community needs and issues" and new licensing guidelines to "ensure that all broadcasters provide some locally-oriented programming."

Project 21 members and other critics of new regulation of accepted broadcast content contend this would set the stage for a reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine. This defunct FCC rule, requiring broadcasters to present contrasting viewpoints on controversial issues, was abolished in 1987. Between the 1980s and today, talk radio grew from 75 stations nationwide to around 1,800. It is feared that a return of content restrictions would return broadcasting to what former NBC "Meet the Press" host Bill Monroe called "timid, don't-rock-the-boat coverage."

It also is noted that technological innovations such as the Internet, with services such as blogs, YouTube and other web sites, as well as 24-hour broadcast news outlets, make access to all views readily available.

"Media is a business driven by success and profit. While this FCC report proposes regulations with a veneer of promoting balance and fairness, a closer examination shows they will likely blunt today's most successful models of discourse," said Project 21 chairman Mychal Massie, a former talk radio host. "Any government interference in content that draws views or listeners and does not violate accepted standards of decency should be viewed hyper-critically."

Project 21 members submitting comments against the FCC's Report on Broadcast Localism and the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (MB Docket No. 04-233) include Chairman Mychal Massie, Fellow Deneen Borelli, and National Advisory Council members Kevin Martin, Bob Parks, the Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson and Elder Doctor Levon Yuille. All have been involved in radio and television broadcasting.

Thousands of foreign student pilots have been able to enroll and obtain pilot licenses from U.S. flight schools, despite tough laws passed in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, according to internal government documents obtained by ABC News.

"Some of the very same conditions that allowed the 9-11 tragedy to happen in the first place are still very much in existence today," wrote one regional security official to his boss at the TSA, the Transportation Security Administration. [emphasis added]

"Thousands of aliens, some of whom may very well pose a threat to this country, are taking flight lessons, being granted FAA certifications and are flying planes," wrote the TSA official, Richard A. Horn, in 2005, complaining that the students did not have the proper visas. [Continue reading.]

In case you are unaware, Columbia has been at war with its southern border for over 20 years now. They are harboring Hamas, Hizbollah, IRA, and FARC. All of which are known to be terrorists. Any enemy of the USA is certainly a friend of Chavez in Venezuela and those 'useless idiots' in Hollywood and the Left in Congress. It is such a shame that these people would prefer to see their own demise than to stand for their own country. It begs the question, "Why don't you move then?"
