Bellavia4NY's 26th Dist4Cong: Plus Heroes

Calling all Vets For Freedom members and suporters: Go to his site and give! They are working on his website as I type, but let me tell you a little something about this Medal of Honor nominee while you donate what you can and support him in anyway you are able.

His website is www.Bellavia2008.com, and this is one man you would truly like to know.

Dear Vets for Freedom members:

David Bellavia, Vets for Freedom co-founder, member of our Board of Advisors, and now a candidate for Congress in New York's 26th Congressional District, resigned from our Board of Advisors Monday due to his candidacy. David will continue to be a member of the organization

David Bellavia is a great American, who served this country courageously on the battlefield in Iraq, receiving the Silver Star and a nomination for the Medal of Honor. But his service didn’t stop there. Here at home, David co-founded Vets for Freedom, as well as a local organization in his hometown of Buffalo, New York for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Vets for Freedom wishes David luck in what will be a difficult battle for a contested seat, and we are grateful for the voice he continues to give veterans here at home and those serving abroad. Please make sure to visit www.Bellavia2008.com to find out more information.

Give 'em Hell David,

Pete Hegseth
Executive Director
Vets for Freedom.

This is wonderful news for Congress! Let's get donating. Let's show them we're not all talk. If they put up a candidate we can vote for, we become very enthusiastic!

I just want to add one thing that is somewhat off this topic. I did my Wednesday Hero yesterday but over here at the Vets for Freedom Blog, they have another person is also deserving of our attention. The title of the post is, "Honoring Marine CPL Jason Dunham." This was a remarkable man who truly loved his team and his country. This is a MUST READ post. Would you like a taste? Okay:

A few days ago, I posted the tribute to Medal of Honor recipient SFC Paul Ray Smith by LTG William B. Caldwell, IV. Much like my efforts with They Have Names, LTG Caldwell wants to make sure that these brave warriors are not forgotten. As I noted to some after my trip to DC, most of the anti-war people that I spoke with talked about the Abu Ghraib disaster. Many of them could even give you name of either Granger or England. I would often ask them if they knew who SFC Paul Ray Smith was. "Was he the squad leader?" No. Do you know who CPL Jason Dunham was. "No, but it sounds familiar." It should. What about Lt. Michael Murphy? "No." Well, the same day I was in Washington, Petty Officer Michael Monsoor was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.

Frontier Six, LTG William B. Caldwell, IV, Sends Remembering our Heroes Corporal Jason Dunham, United States Marine CorpsLTG Caldwell has written another poignant oratory about Marine CPL Dunham, who died of his wounds four years ago yesterday. While the rest of America was concerned with who was more "bitter", we remember the passing of a true American hero. What follows is a must read letter for all Americans! Due to ceremonies to commemerate the occasion and updates to ASP, we were forced to present this a day late. [Continue reading.]

I wonder how many people truly know that we are living in a country filled with giants? I'm so grateful to them for all they do, even if they never make the papers. They do make it possible for those who do make the papers to do their work. God bless each and every one of their families, friends, and them.

Update: Um. I. Did. Something. Stupid. What? I called them Freedom For Vets, instead of Vets For Freedom. D'oh! I have since corrected this matter, but I've trackbacked with it the wrong name. My sincerest apologies.

Today I am having an open post trackback, and you are welcome to trackback or ping an article you wish to share with others. I like to use Linkfest for this, because there are many people with good posts already up over there. It is also a good way to share your articles. Give it a go, eh? The only rule I have is that there shall be no porn. Thanks, and have a great day.
