Founders' Daily Quote: 22 July 2008

"Men of energy of character must have enemies; because there are two sides to every question, and taking one with decision, and acting on it with effect, those who take the other will of course be hostile in proportion as they feel that effect."

--Thomas Jefferson (letter to John Adams, 21 December 1817); Reference: The Writings of Thomas Jefferson (Memorial Edition), Lipscomb and Bergh, eds., 15:109.

As a child, I used to wonder why people couldn't talk out the differences. As an adult, I understand slightly more. There is a difference between not agreeing with policies than a difference between one side stating, "I want to kill all of you," and we won't allow that. We did not start this jihad, so we cannot walk away from it. If we do, we shall have confront it at a later date with a much higher cost. This is exactly the difference between Obama and McCain.

Obama wants to quit playing, pick up his marbles and go home. The only problem with that is these are real people's lives we have to consider. McCain is good for nothing else but this. I'd rather live. This way I can try to correct the damage he will do. Oh wonderful...

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.
