This July 4th, Give Thanks

Independence Day is a very special day to Americans. This is the day we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence. We have fireworks to remind us of "the bombs bursting in air" that allowed them to see our flag was still there. They had no idea if we were going to win, but they would rather die to remain free than to be enslaved or imprisoned by the British. That is amazing. How many of us are willing to give all for this noble quest today?

We are at war right now, no matter who tries to deny it. Our brave men and women are out there fighting for our very lives, and I think we ought to be very grateful to them. That is why I am asking you to read what a friend of mine e-mailed me.

She collects cards and gift packages for our troops all year long. It only takes a moment, and they deserve these cards and care packages. Please respond. Show our troops they are not forgotten. Thank you so very much.

4th OF JULY CARD DRIVE FOR DEPLOYED TROOPS

The Mission:

To collect at least 3,000 "thank you" cards for troops serving our country all over the world, to tell them "Thank you for our Freedom!" We are also collecting care package items for troops - please visit our website for more info, and click on the "Items Needed ASAP!" link!

The Reason:

Being away from home, often living in harsh conditions with combat & constant danger is difficult ~ our troops need to know we have not forgotten them!!! Mail from home helps to keep our troops' morale strong, making a very real difference in their lives. It keeps them motivated and focused when they know we care about them!

The Address:

Send your signed, unsealed thank-you cards to the following address:

OPERATION: LOVE FROM HOME
P.O. Box 1660
Loganville, Georgia, 30052

ALL CARDS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 2009.

The Guidelines:

The cards can be handmade or store-bought.

This is a great opportunity to get your Scout troop, school, church and other civic organizations involved in doing something to show support for our troops.

Please do not write the date on your cards

Please, no glitter on the cards. Because of the intended destination of the cards, nothing excessively "shiny" should be sent for safety & security reasons.

*IMPORTANT: This is not a "dating service." Please do not send suggestive or otherwise inappropriate cards or materials. Please also refrain from making political statements of any nature. We will be reading and screening every card received to ensure that the above guidelines are adhered to. Remember: This is strictly to let the troops know that we love them, we are proud of them and that we HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN them!

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE: WWW.OPERATIONLOVEFROMHOME.ORG, OR EMAIL: KAT@OPERATIONLOVEFROMHOME.ORG. POSTAGE COSTS ARE OUR LARGEST EXPENSE. DONATIONS TOWARDS POSTAGE ARE GRATEFULLY ACCEPTED.

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.
