Some Verizon ISP Owners Suck

I have a Black Tie account with the Geek Squad where I bought my computer, and my brother's ISP owner is from Verizon. I use a router (he has the modem) which they provided for us. Yesterday our computers were down due to an ethernet cable being unplugged. You would THINK Verison would able to know what to do about this situation.

Apparently not. I had to waste one of my 4 free emergency calls to find out all I had to do was unplug the modem, plug the ethernet cable master box back into the wall, unplug the router, then turn off the power to both computers, wait a few seconds (10), plug in the router after the modem lit up and become nonflashing solid lights, and voila! A FREAKIN ISP WORKER SHOULD KNOW THIS.

I should charge them $99, because that's how much money they cost me. That was my third or fourth call to the Geek Squad, and I am upset. If you don't know your job, don't work there. I don't care how hard up you are for a job. Geesh.

Besides that, Yahoo has not responded to my request for help getting into my Email account. If you are wondering why I haven't been writing, there's your answer. I cannot reach you to let you know about the situation! Frustration after frustration.

One good thing did happen, actually two. My brother is eating a little solid food and feeling better, and I am able to walk without my walker now! I'm not saying it's permanent, but I have managed to get around to care for him without using it. I guess it is true. When we have to do things we never thought possible but circumstances call upon us, we rise to the occassion through faith in Him. Praise God and thank you for your prayers. God bless you all.

PS. You may reach me at this email address for now.

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

Hello again...

I forgot to write before we unplugged the tower to the latest computer I bought to let you know I would have to be out of touch for a few days. I don't like when that happens but alas, it does happen.

Fortunately, my new tower is back and everything seems to be operating smoothly...so far. I'll be writing again shortly. Let me get some of these 600+ emails looked at or tossed first. Ugh. God bless everyone, especially our Troops, and take care.

Still Waiting For New Computer

I am fortunate enough to have a brother who understands that if he doesn't allow me to use his computer while he sleeps, I'll go stir crazy. I made the purchase on the 9th, but it won't be here until the 18th (Wed). I'm dieing!

I can't write a long up-to-date, so I'll just say that I'm doing better than even I expected. After all, what else can I do? Boy, it sure does let one know how addicted to these machines one can get. Hmm...

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

One Of My Best Friends Died

I apologize for not being here for a while. See, my computer went to computer heaven. I am rather shook up. I started to buy a new computer immediately, but everytime I hit the 'Calculate' button, I received an error message.

That's easy enough, or so I thought. I'll just call the store. So I did. After about 6 calls to the store and 2 calls returned to me, we were no closer to getting me a new computer. *sigh*

The problem was in their bundling. None of their computers would accept the continue button. So, it wasn't just my imagination!

We finally sold it separately (I told them I was only going to pay for the bundle price). That worked. It should be on its way after tomorrow. Until then, I have to use my brother's computer AFTER he goes to sleep. For once in our lifetimes, we have the same sleeping hours!

Stay tuned. I have some very important information to share with you about the Farmers Relay Rally and the Citizens Initiative that we are going to get 1.2 million signatures for to get it on the ballot this November. Lots of info, and all of you can help. See ya then. God bless.

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

OMG! She's Alive!

Hi everyone. My computer has been down because VERIZON couldn't fix it over the phone. They gave me an appointment for Monday, but I forgot that's the day when someone else is coming to mess around with our electricity. Just what I needed, eh? Well as you can tell, she's working right now. So I'm taking this opportunity to let you know I'm alive. *heh*

I have to get ready for the Tea Party I'm having today (100 W. Broadway, Suite 600, Long Beach, CA-between Pacific and Pine from 9 am-2 pm). Time to jump into the shower. Have a blessed day!

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

Internet Explorer 8

If you have been resisting Internet Explorer 8 as I have, maybe it is time that we have no choice. Do you ever use YouTube? How about Twitter? Facebook? The Internet? Well, they are going to stop allowing me to use my IE 6. Creeps.

I have no choice. They shouldn't make products they are only going to get rid of down the line. What if people like them? Doesn't matter. They don't care. They've got their money, their fancy cars and the such. What about us poor people? What about rich people who don't have the time or desire to relearn everything they learned in the first place using the damn product in the first place? They don't care, and why should they? Makes me wonder about buying American from some companies...

Anyway, I'm going to do the switch, and I will keep you updated on the changes I find. If you are like me and blog, everytime you clean out your temporary files (in Internet Options), you will no longer have the choice of whether or not to keep them. You cannot. It will also clear your history whenever you clear your temp. files.

I've tried it before. That's how I know. That is also the reason I made them give me back my IE 6! Have a nice day.

Update 1: I want to scream! Nothing is where THEY say it is, I hate this friggin crap. I'm thinking about going Apple. Seriously. The way Windows threatens people by having it on every site I go to that if I did not do this, that particular place was going to stop accepting IE 6. Those bastards.

Update 2: I was so lost that I figured I would check out their help. They have an e-mail button, so I clicked on it. You know who the email went to? ME!?! So I figured I would share it with you.
Problem: Technical

I hate it, I hate it, I hate it! It is so frustrating when I have over 300 issues I have to report and you won't allow me to keep IE 6. Why not? I have to learn a whole new application just so I can continue my job? WHY? I don't have the time.

Oh, I've been to your help sites. I've looked for what they've said to look for to fix the situation. IT ISN'T THERE! Then what do I do? This is 1st grade stuff that you make grad school problems out of it. Please stop doing this to your customers, or I'm going APPLE!

My problem? How do I turn off these daggone accelerants that you seem to think are so cute? They block me everywhere I go, EVEN THOUGH I turned them off through the Wizard. Huh? They're still working even though I told them not to? Okay, I have time to figure this out.

Does the Military have time to wait for me to do this or should I get back to work? Where is your location? I'm sure you appreciate if I protected it, wouldn't you? Then please don't make threats such as, "We are going to stop responding to browser that are using IE 6." at YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo, everywhere I go. (Not a physical threat, no, but a job killing one.)

Please forgive my frustration. I have been so busy and now this. You'll never hear me say, "What could happen next?"!

Have a nice evening.

Sincerely,

Rosemary
Okay, I know I'm not in the military, but I do a lot for them. No, I don't get paid. So what's the talk about losing my job? I was seriously ready to give up ever getting on this computer again. It was a build up of a whole bunch of things that I don't feel like rehashing. The good news is, I'm over it. Have a nice day.

PS. IE 8 is SLOWER than IE 6.

Clean Your Sidebar Often Or Else...

I knew it would take some time, and that it did. It has now been three days (I think, I haven't been sleeping that much). You must check EVERY site you haven't been to for a while just to make sure someone is still there. That is one of the ways I've been able to get out of blogging for a while. Actually, my computer started locking up on me, and I don't know why.

I thought it could have something to do with the number of gadgets I have on it, so I am moving my sidebar to Rosemary's Blogrolls. Yeah, I had to create ANOTHER headache. lol. Since I have this site and Rosemary's News and Ideas, I have links that I have here but not there and vise-versa. Hopefully with these new links, that won't happen again.

I put the links into categories so people could seek their interests. Just to give you an idea of how many links I have, I put all of those links alphabetically into one category, Rosemary's Blogroll. And that's not all of them! Ugh...

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

PLEASE USE LINKFEST FROM 'Monday-Wednesday Linkfests'. THE 'BHO Linkfests' IS NOT WORKING. This is a slight technical difficulty only. We are still up and running. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

David, please see if you can fix this. Thank you. ;)

MSN Customer Service

So you say you would like to help people by working at customer service? May I recommend you do not apply for a job at MSN? I have tried since Saturday to ‘fix’ my problem so I could once again get online and place my articles on my sites.

Allow me to walk through their customer service. The first call was pretty good. I learned that I had not paid for the last two months. See, when I lost my card, my card company did carry over MSN. So they asked me for my new information. I started to give it to them, and I realized I could not find my card again.

I am the type of person who puts things away where they belong. If it isn’t there, I cannot find it. It doesn’t matter if it is right next to where I’m looking, I still cannot find it. This may be due the strokes that I’ve had. I created a strategy for me to remember those things that I do not use everyday. I would put them in one place, and they would stay there. When I am through using them, I return them to that one place. Easy, right? HA! lol

Anyway, I called my card company to report it, and they were going to send me another one. In the meantime, I found it. I called my card company to tell them, and they told me I was given the same number! I was astonished. They are supposed to change it in case someone else gets their hands on it. Oh well. I was okay with it...this time.

Then I called MSN again. After going through all the stuff you have to go through, they sent me to a specialist in billing. Why wouldn’t they accept my new card? They changed their policy so that both the name on the credit card and the name you put on your profile have to be the same. WHAT THE HAY? NO WAY! They have no right to my personal information, and these people want to get all huffy when the Patriot Act was implemented? Yeah, right.

I swear, they want to know too much information for my comfort zone. I wanted to change ISP’s right then and there. There was only one problem. I don’t use MSN. I have been paying for it since January 2002 as a back up ISP, just in case my IE ran into a problem. Well, my ISP ran into a problem, and MSN was in no way, shape or form going to help. They even had the nerve to tell me I owed them money! I told them to show me where ANY activity was used on my account. They could not, because I did not use it.

It took me 8 phone calls to MSN and I let them know I am a journalist. I also let them know I may lose my job. Did they care? NO. I promised to write an article about this experience, and here it is.

Well, to put this all into a nutshell, they told me all I had to do was go online and change my profile. Um...THAT’S WHY I’M CALLING! I have no internet! I could not sign-in to MSN and IE was out. They are tomorrow. Finally. As soon as I get on the computer, I’m canceling my subscription. I recommend you do the same.

PS. I'm back online now, as if you couldn't tell, and I paid what I owed. Did I keep the MSN? Yeah, until I can find something that will allow me to carry over my same e-mail addresses! Argghhh!

I’m about to scream

This cannot be happening. I have been working on this since Saturday afternoon. What is it that I’ve been working on? Ah, getting this computer connection working.

I called one person on Saturday, and she told me I could have a technician here by Monday. Then when I called today, they said I would NOT have one here until Wednesday. I am officially going stir crazy!

Please forgive for not answering your e-mails. I cannot see them. Rurik, I’m sorry about not being able to post the article I’ve written for Monday to be posted on Tuesday. By the time I am able to post anything, it will be old news. (Aside from the fact that it'll be late!)

Georgia is on the brink of being pulled back into the USSR, and President Bush better stop the KGB and Putin. Those so-called ’peace-keepers’ are actually Russian soldiers who’ve been practicing this take-over for months, if not years.

Okay, I must admit I took a break. Like I said, I’m going stir crazy. Now the news is that Putin told his gangster troops to cease-fire, so he says, but they are continuing their march closer and closer inside Georgia.

PRESIDENT BUSH, DO SOMETHING!

May you walk with the LORD always, and when you cannot take another step, may He carry you the rest of the way until you can walk along side Him again.

My Decision

Since I've received no advice for which I requested...well...it is the weekend...I have made this decision all by my little self. I have decided to keep this site AND the new site. Ha! I really like the other site, but there are things I can do here that I can't do over there. I can do things over there that I cannot do over here. So it wasn't really all that hard of a decision to make.

For example, I will be changing my Linkfest address to Rosemary's News and Ideas. The URL to this new site http://rosemarysnews.wordpress.com. Yeah, I forgot to add the 'and Ideas' when I created the site. Oh well. Less typing. ;)

So those of you read me here will be able to continue doing so. I am just going to copy/paste from here and go over there. I would like to use my WP address for my Linkfests, because it is SOOOOO much easier than manually having to do it myself. Do you realize how much time I put into each Linkfest? A LOT. Too much as a matter of fact! I hardly have anytime left to read any of the sites that appealling to me! That is going to end because I want to read your sites, not just write them down and forget them. I also the theme they allowed me have for my header. Haha. Now you have to go look. (lol)

I'm going to keep this site because it allows me to manipulate videos and the such. There are some links I was unable to take with me, and I do not want to give them up. Besides, it's much easier to use Blogger to write. I'm quite sure there are many other reasons for this decision, including I do not desire to lose you as a reader by jerking you around from site to site, but for now, that it is my decision. Have no fear. You do not need to change your links. Who knows, you may end up liking the other site, too! ;)

Iraqi judges get computers, legal software

by Spc. Amanda McBride
4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division Public Affairs Office

FOB KALSU (May 12, 2008) — More than 15 judges and court administrators from Babil, Najaf and Diwaniyah Provinces received new laptops and a judicial software program here May 7 from Soldiers in the Judge Advocate Section, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. The 4th BCT computer distribution is a continuation of efforts begun by Multi-National Division – Center's Rule of Law team to distribute state-of-the-art laptops to Iraqi judges.

Judges from the Babil, Najaf and Diwaniyah Provinces received new laptops and a software program designed specifically for their work May 7 on FOB Kalsu. The judges also received a class on how to properly use the computers and software. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Amanda McBride)"We provided laptops to … judges from different provinces south of here in order to help them with the administration of their particular court," said Maj. Thomas Hurley, 4th BCT judge advocate general. The laptops provided will give judges the knowledge to effectively process and retrieve criminal cases.

The software gives them access to the Iraqi legal code and books dating back from 1917. "Today, the judges are receiving judicial laptops, which basically takes all the Iraqi laws and law books and puts them into one system that is centrally located on a laptop so they can be more mobile," said Spc. Wallis Lacey, Rule of Law team, 3rd Inf. Div. "It allows judges to do legal research at home, work or wherever they need to."

To date, more than 55 judges from the surrounding area have received laptops after four distributions, plus a class on how to properly use the computers and software. Prior to these laptops, trying to find information on past cases was difficult and at times almost impossible due to many still using low-tech storage systems.

"We hope the judges have it easier, as far as looking up laws," Lacey said. "It allows them to be able to go anywhere and have laws right on the laptop and not have to carry a lot of books around." Hurley said despite personal safety risks the judges have faced, they continue doing their job because they know it is right. "They still come to work and still try to participate the best that they can," Hurley said. "It's truly inspiring."

Welcome to my new look

You may be wondering why I changed my style as I had a very nice one before, or so I thought! I asked my brother for his opinion on something I had been working on and lo and behold, my template looked awful! Where there were supposed to be spaces, there were none. Not even now am I able to bring back to their natural size some of my posts.

That is why I decided to try as many tricks as I could. I am now thinking about going back to wordpress. Why? I have had the *(&_*(&_* pleasure of learning three languages (at least) without so much as an instructor. I've had it. If I have to learn this language to bring my site back to its natural beauty, I might as well learn a language I've been wanting to learn. Not one that I'm stuck with.

Then again, I do like the fact that it doesn't take foreeeeeeeeever to write a post and pull up my site whenever I wish. Blogger allows me this benefit. This is also the place who gave me my start in blogging. I do feel a little devotion to them. However, they've gone over to the other side! That's right. They sold out to google! Google is one of those companies that censores Chinese bloggers. I want nothing to do with them. They have no devotion to me.

Would someone PLEASE help me decide? Are you willing to teach me WordPress? Oh, I already own a site with the same name, Rosemary's Thoughts.com and Rosemary's Thoughts.wordpress.com. I also have one at TownHall and vox. They both take too long, although I do like vox. They have something to do with MSN though. I need help!

Well, this is my rant for the morning. I hope everyone has a very fine day.

Need tech help

I'm using IE 6 on an XP, and I'm not able to go to some sites that I used to be able to read. I did something in Tools, Internet Options, Advanced. I do not remember the changes I made, but I went there after this problem occurred. I'm so screwed!

I have since go back in and changed everything back to default. Of course, I made a few changes after that. The problem I ran into was when you get that white screen that says, 'Refresh', and then it says to check connections and all that other stuff. I really don't like this part about computers.

If there is anyone out there that can and will help me, I surely would appreciate it! Thanks.

Today I am having an open post trackback, and you are welcome to trackback or ping an article you wish to share with others. I like to use Linkfest for this, because there are many people with good posts already up over there. It is also a good way to share your articles. Give it a go, eh? I *ate Norton!

This is a rush post, because Norton might shut her down before I'm done typing. Has anyone bought the Norton Security Package 2008? Well...IT SUCKS. It doesn't have the Live Updates capacity, so you have to do that manually. It took me over 3 hours last night to complete it, then it restarted without my consent. Good thing I wasn't working on anything serious.

Right now it is scanning my files so I know I have a little time. This anti-virus program is the pits. I just don't know where else to go. Does anyone have any ideas out there? I need to change this anti-virus program, and I've only had it since December 21, 2007. I have already had more problems with Norton than I've had with it in the past 5 years! Oh, whoa is me. Thanks for any suggestions. Have a great day.

AFC v. NFC Pro-Bowl Game

Grab those chips, get some burgers and dogs (maybe some chili) and settle in on the couch. This is the last game until next August. :(

PS. After the game is over, I will be taking the widget out. It is slowing down my computer. If you should want to put it up on your computer so you'll know when the game is on, you can go here for the ClearSpring widget. This is also to tell those who may read this in the future and have no idea what I'm talking about. lol. There is a widget here today. It will be gone in two days. Get it now!

Updat: Final score: AFC 30--NFC 42. What else is new? We'll get 'em next year. (Yeah, right.)

News: AQ, tech, illegals, military/blogs, & Muslims

Have you ever given any thought to a 'three-dimensional' website? Look at it this way, we no longer live in a world where the net is a 'flat earth' development. To give you a peek inside this fact, Douglas Farah has written a very informative and chilling article.

At the Counterterrorism Blog, you will find just about any type of news that we are NOT hearing about on the news. Especially the type of news which we should all be looking for to keep our country safe. I suppose that could be because of the elections, but you would think our survival would be an election year topic. Oh well.

Jihadists Move to Encryption on Internet Sights.

...Today’s Washington Post carries an extensive look at the radicalization of two Islamists from the state of Georgia who were filming potential targets in Washington, D.C.

Much of the process took place on line, as did the radicalization of an Egyptian businessman who sponsored the trip of combatants to Iraq based on the Internet statements and broadcasts by Yousef al-Qaradawi, the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood. [Continue reading.]
So, they think catching illegal aliens is too hard of a task? Check out this story from Jayson Javitz over at Wizbang!
Dragnet.

...'They think they're pretty much home free once they get up here,' said Bill Botts, of the Border Patrol's Gulport, Mississippi, station. But Operation Uniforce, as the two-week crackdown started Jan. 13 is called, 'is pretty much a shocker for the [alien] smuggling organizations.'

More than 300 illegal immigrants and alien smugglers had been arrested as of Tuesday, just over a week into the operation. [Continue reading.]
Now I will share with you some articles and their links and who they are written by in groupings. That is because there are too many of them! lol

First I would like to start with Michael Yon. This first post of his is Moment of Truth in Iraq, a book that Michael has written, and it is very good. I've read the first chapter of Danger Close (it is online), and you might like to read it also. He is one of the citizen journalists who tells it as it is, not the way we would like to hear it. I like that. It shows me respect, because he trusts that I can make up my own mind.

CORRECTION: It has been brought to my attention that Michael's book is Titled "Danger Close." Jon is correct. You may purchase it only at Michael's site here. Thank you Jon for catching that for me. *blush*

His next post is News Flash: Dragon Skin. This one is about body armor. Next is "Commanders Update #9, Commander’s Update #9 JAN 08, By LTC. James Crider. Then there is "General Lee Comes Home, Part 2, Stryker Dubbed ‘General Lee’ Rejuvenated, By Ann Roosevelt, for Defense Daily. After that one is this one where he was profiled by the NY Times, "News Flash: Frontline Blogger With a Soldier’s Eyes. They actually did a good job. Then finally, there is a collection of Michael's writings: Archives: Table of Contents.

This one is not technically a blogger (Former Ambassador to the USA, John Bolton), but he has written a very chilling warning to President Bush, Condi, and the new president of the USA in the Wall Street Journal's opinion and commentary section. The title of this article is "North Korea's True Colors." Read it! Another article which they printed is "The Legacy, Bush of Arabia. This U.S. president is the most consequential the Middle East has ever seen. by FOUAD AJAMI." It is a refreshing look at both President Bush (whom I have lost much hope of having anything positive get done) and the Iraqi people. It is a good read.

For the following articles from CentCom, I will put them in list form. There are many good articles!
Here are six links to YouTube videos from Blackfive: This video is 1:16 minutes long. The title is "Sgt. Giles." This one is "Arab Jabour: An Introduction," and it is 2:45 minutes. This next one is titled "Arab Jabour: Terrain Denial." The next three are "Surge Plus One: Doura," "Robin Williams in Kuwait" and "Crazy I-Ranians threaten US warships with Jihad." Now I have links you may be interested in reading.

Next I have for you some articles from ACT! for America which is a great site to go to find patriotic people keeping an eye on legislation, jihadism and other news that we can appreciate. They now have chapters that are posted on their website. You can also receive e-mails from them, if you wish.

This next news article is an interview between National Review Online and M. Zuhdi Jasser. This is the third part of the article. The title of this portion of the interview is "We Need a Hero, Looking toward 2008 and beyond." Mr. Jasser has also had a press release, "FBI Director's Community Leadership Award given to Zuhdi Jasser." One more article here. It is written by Electa Draper at the Denver Post. The name of the article is "Moderate Muslim view outshouted by Islamists." Oh, those so understanding and tolerant libs. You may read about him and keep up with him at AIFD. This acronym stands for American Islamic Forum for Democracy.

American Congress for Truth is a very fine site. It is run by conversatives who just happen to be black. This is an amazing site, and you really should add it to your sidebar. For example, they are on top of this internet problem which I started this post off with.
Terrorism Probe Points to Reach Of Web Networks.

In April 2005, police swarmed the U.S. Capitol to confront an erratic Australian man, carrying two suitcases, who they feared was a suicide bomber. After blowing up one of the bags, officers realized he was harmless.

The police never noticed the two nervous young men on a nearby sidewalk filming the Capitol during the standoff. But they might have been the real threat, according to newly released documents.

The men, ultraconservative Muslims from Georgia, were making surveillance videos that could help extremists plan "some kind of terrorist attack," as one man later acknowledged, according to court documents disclosed last week. One of their videos was sent to a notorious al-Qaeda publicist in London, authorities said. [Continue reading.]
Does that give anyone pause? It does me.

Linkfest Haven, the Blogger's Oasis

Okay, that should be enough information to hold you through the weekend. Don't worry. If it doesn't, I will still be posting at my site. I am having an Open Tracktrack Alliance and an Open Trackback at Linkfest. Share with others your work. Before you trackback, please add me to your post. After you this, I will add your name and title to the main page. This way, everyone will be able to see your work and may come over to view it. Have a good weekend everyone!

Update: I just have to add this one last(?) post. It is very funny and is also a member of Open Trackback Alliance. Since I do not like to post a trackback on someone's post who has not listed that post for today's OTA, I have written this little piece about it. Oh, what is it? Study: Few Keyboards Actually Destroyed By Coffee. Enjoy!
